Funny that Tracer and Echo are fading in the background

They were portrayed as main protagonist characters for OW1 and going into OW2.

Now they can’t even stay meta nowadays, (nor seem to have much new interactions).

I don’t know if it’s a failure on the balance team or the lore team or both or the entire company of Blizz…

At least Sym seems to be getting new friends. There also seem to be a theme going on…

Being portrayed as protagonists doesn’t entitle to be “meta”. Tracer is still a solid A tier pick. With Sojourn nerfs she will get even more ground just because competition will be weaker.

And lore-wise, there are characters who are very visible in the game presentation, like Soldier or Mercy who are very far from being “meta” - not necessarily terrible, but not even A-tier either. Plus there are “obscure” characters who simply never were meta and deserve attention way more than decent A-tier ones.

Tracer was one of the consistently best heroes all throughout OW 1 and echo was never truly bad either at all so I think them being overshadowed hard by the most broken dps ever isn’t them being F tier

Lore does not equal balance. How you managed to come to the conclusion that because Tracer is the poster child means that she needs to be meta is beyond me. Not sure where the talk of Echo being one comes from either. Plus she was literally one of the best DPS in the game ever since she was released. I think it’s a good thing that she isn’t running rampant anymore.

…Echo? I get Tracer since she’s the postergirl, but I always thought the main “protagonist” characters were more like Winston and Soldier.

Echo is fine rn sure she seems weak because of sojourn but her movement is 2nd to mercy’s maybe even better she’s fine rn you just have to play around the map especially rooftops

tracer is overrated as hell, she’s b-tier at best.

Echo on the other hand is pretty strong, it’s just that the dps picks have to contend with sojourn and reaper, and sojourn is busted atm and reaper fits into the meta better.
