Normally when I play overwatch, I play in fullscreen. In fact always I play in fullscreen. However recently I’ve encountered a bug which changes the game from fullscreen to windowed mode every time that I launch.
That can be fixed in the options. It used to happen to me, too. Again, it can be fixed in the options if you do enough dinking around.
