FTC blocks Microsoft's Activision Blizzard acquisition

The U.S. Court has accepted the request of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to temporarily block the acquisition of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft.

On Monday, June 14, 2023, the FTC filed a complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, seeking a temporary restraining order and a preliminary injunction.

The complaint argued that without the temporary restraining order, Microsoft and Activision could have closed the deal at any time from this upcoming Friday onwards, and that the court’s decision was ‘necessary to maintain the status quo pending resolution of the complaint.’

The FTC’s request was accepted, and a related hearing is scheduled for June 23 and 24.

… shameless

One US judge approved the temporary hold for a week.

Good hopefully it gets blocked heh…

I fully agree so long as Mike Ybarra is at the reins, Blizzard is never gonna see improvement, the only thing this merger will do is open up what games go on game pass and likely add some perks for being a game pass holder to their existing games

IE 3 months of Game Pass when you sub to WoW for 6 months etc etc.

More click-baity this way.

the FTC is powerless and run by a complete moron, much like the rest of 'murikah

Yep. They are playing right into Microsoft’s hands.

Not really you realize that they find Microsoft millions of dollars?

Hardly powerless…

ya, they also fine the banks for illegal scams, but the banks just keep doing it

the housing crisis of 08, the financial breakdown in 2015, and now numerous ‘smaller’ banks failing…the FTC sure is good at their job.
