Frustrating MM leading to player base decline

I am frustrated with the ranked matchmaking and the elo system. It is absolutely against new players. I get a teammate that cannot carry their own weight and I lose. Ya’ll giving me bronze support in gold matches and it costs me my games. Okay understandable, BUT when it comes to ranking adjustments, it’s purely based on number of wins vs losses. I am doing the best in the team but i lose7 games before I win 5 and i derank. How in the world is that fair. This is the exact reason why the player base is declining. Only the content creators at the top are playing the game cus that’s how the ranks work in this game. Now I don’t have any issues when i am underperforming my games but what i just mentioned always happens and i am tired. i was the best support in my plat 1 game but my dps or tank were always underperforming. That kept happening and now i am gold in support :)). The deluded players or whoever responds to the ticket need to realise the issue if they actually care about the game. Poor matchmaking and it’s frustrating.

And I also saw someone named Roku with the smug replies to these threads so I am just gonna ignore him :))

Ignore all you like my friend.

But people aren’t leaving because of the match maker. They are leaving because they are burnt out, and some blame the match maker for things that aren’t even linked to the match maker.

Games 7+years old now. If had a big update to OW2, but nothing major has happened. People just don’t play as much as they used to, or are bored of it.

alot of players i know ARE leaving/have left due to matchmaker. yes the game is old and yes people are getting bored of it, but u just cant deny when there is evidence people are frustrated from the sht matchmaking.

That’s more likely burn out, with the match maker being used as an easy get out.

Be interesting to know what they think the match maker is doing that is frustrating them so much.

The matchmaker is the cause of the burnout.

Signing up for 10-25 minute competitive game and having it be a meager 50% chance of it not being a one way stomp (regardless of what team we’re on) is not compelling nor likely to keep players around.

You know it, we know it, but you think being a contrarian makes you superior in some way. The fact that you’re a reply guy in every post here instead of playing the game reduces your credibility a lot tbh.

Don’t even try to argue with Roku. He just loves the attention he can get from us. Ignore. We all know how awful matchmaking is, even top500 players have complained about it, it’s clearly designed so new players i.e. potential buyers can have quick matches and keep buying cosmetics. That’s all they care about now. Matchmaking won’t be fixed.

So queuing for a game that’s fairly balanced, hence giving you a 50% chance of winning is a bad thing (that being said, it is technically impossible to ensure 50%, faaar to many variables that could impact how a game goes (hero picks, map, and many other personal things)

Or do you want it to force results, so you have a bigger chance of winning?

We all know? I’ve seen a lot of people who think similar things to me.

Also, adding “some t500 players agree with me” doesn’t add any additional validity to your point.

Yep forums have 4 people here like him and i avoided all of them because they have zero knowledge how the game actually works.

Just like to white knight for no reason.

White knight who or what though.

Correcting, or questioning misinformation isn’t that …

And insulting people, or telling other to ignore them because they have different views is just sad behaviour.

I can also say all my friends. The bad ones and the streamers have stopped playing OW. They were hyped for OW2 played for a bit saw the same issues as before and left again.

Yeah Roku has the worst victim blaming takes I’ve ever seen

Aaron Keller’s heavy handed tweak caused this 6mths ago when all the GMs noticed too many masters players wrongfully in gm… They overtuned it. No one can rank up now. you literally need 5-1 for a rank up and 5-6 for an equivalent derank.

Blizzard math.

80% win rate to rank up
45.45% to derank

He hides behind the fact that mmr and matchmaking are non transparent. So he can always say there is no proof when the testimonials and reviews from the playerbase regarding matchmaking are overwhelmingly negative.

There is a reason the information is kept hidden from us and that is because the devs know what we all know including Roku. Competitive integrity is simply not something this company considers important and they have literally admitted this.

Add a +1 for me. Left four months ago because of the awful matchmaking. Poked my head back in the other day with a fresh mindset to see how it was fairing with the launch of season 6, got put into two back-to-back games with feeding tanks and wannabe-fps supports who had no idea what they were doing. Immediately uninstalled.

The reason why the information is hidden is to prevent from being exploited and abused. The system has been improving from season to season. Devs, matter afact, listen to the community – there was an actual inflation with ranks in season 3 and it is slowly getting fixed.

And as for the MM, it’s working as intended, based on MMR, which as of a few months ago, became close to the actual rank.

No, the burnout is caused by various reasons: repeatitiveness, lost of competitive drive, lack of self-improvement, the game simply isn’t captivating anymore, etc.

The matchmaker isn’t making players quit. They are quitting because they are quitters. Every game has those. Every sport has those.

The game isn’t for everyone. Natural selection. I wish you luck for the future.

He is hardstuck with the mentality he got tbh.

I’ve climbed slowly pretty much every season. But I don’t play to arbitrarily climb. I play because I enjoy the games.

But this thread shows how much of a herd mentality some in the community had. 1 person disagrees with your theories… Let’s all gang up on them!. Not even stopping to consider which side of the coin seems more likely to be right…

Is what it is, people just want to complain. The Karen culture is strong.
