Title- how have y’all adapted your play styles from OW1 to OW2? I’m mostly curious to know how Tank and DPS mains may have changed their play styles, but feel free to chime in, Supports.
Note: Please keep the blame game and general salt out of this thread. I’m very tired of people being up in arms and inciting each other. I just want to talk about OW2 without it being fueled by negativity. Yes lots of stuff suck, but that’s what the other threads in this forum are for.
Anyways.
I’m a support main and I actually like playing this role in OW2, after my adjustment period. I like that there are less shields and I’ve just about dropped the habit of looking for that missing sixth player. I’m a lot more paranoid about flankers and have doubled down on support peeling for support. I’m swapping heroes more often in OW2 too, which is a nice change of pace for me. I’ll probably give DPS queue a go at some point, likely as soldier because his kit is beginner friendly. Plus, heal pod!
I am doing quite well on the path to enlightenment. My positioning and aim consistently impress myself. It sounds a bit narcissistic, but I really enjoy ragdolling flanker mains that believe they have an easy pick. I am the one who knocks.
There is nothing wrong with some Miyazaki, and you should at least try to watch Neon Genesis. The old school classics are classics for a reason.
If anyone gives you grief that it isn’t a real art form, get them to watch Grave of the fireflys. Then ask them again if they think it isn’t while they are still sobbing.
If they complain it isn’t weird enough, then Serial Experiments Lian will sort that right out, or give them some drugs, and get them to watch FLCL.
Stein’s Gate is the only good anime. The only one I can recommend without thinking lesser of myself. That being said, if you really want to bring your Genji game to the next level, you are going to want to watch Naruto. RIP
Not much has changed in my opinion. I still play the same characters in many of the same situations. The game has not changed that much to really affect my stratagems or anything.
I think the game is just… easier to follow. Less chaos from 2 less people in the game. Ults come up less often due to one less tank feeding dps/supports and 30% less ult charge.
The only thing I suppose has changed is that I don’t always pressure tanks as often since they can be neight unkillable now even with 5 people focusing them. Looking at orisa, armor, fortify, etc. So much stall. On top of supports need to account for more DPS. Double main heals can be okay, but a healbot + dmgbot support pair is still generally better.
Lmao, I haven’t. I am not enjoying tanking at all in OW2, very few matches I get to play a Tank I feel like playing, just have to keep RPS my way to victory, enemy has X, I guess I gotta go Y.
I gave up, tried playing support for a few days, wasn’t my thing, been playing mostly DPS but uh, doesn’t really capture the fun I used to have tanking in OW1, I just haven’t been having a good time in general.
I got a better understanding of the shift in the beta and so I’ve had an easier time since launch.
Mostly I play support, but I’ve tanked much more than I ever did in OW1.
As a support you need to use cover much more and stick closer to the team. Teams that abandon you to flankers lose. (I had tank and DPS literally run past the enemy tank and dps outside spawn and just leave them there to obliterate the supports.)
Honestly I’m finding support fine, I’m enjoying it. Keep to cover, be aware of where the main fight is and keep near team mates if there’s good flankers/sombras around.
Nice relaxing Moira gameplay.
I struggle most with DPS.
I couldn’t play Sigma at all in OW1 but am decent with him now. Tanks in general I understand their role better in OW2 and actually can make some space. Keep pressure on, keep control of space and rely on team to finish kills as you push opponents back (Unless you’re Zarya or a good flanky/dive tank and can get it yourself)
I’ve been trying to play Zen a lot more in OW2. That Discord orb is huge value and that snap kick is so fun to use. Many times a Winston will be flying towards us and I snap kick him away a little, throw the Discord, and kick the ever living hell out of him and lob my balls in his face.
Oof, I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’re able to start enjoying the game as much as you did before, even if its maybe in a different capacity.
Ayyee, I’m glad you’re still enjoying support! I’m also terrible with Sigma, not sure that will be any different in OW2. Do you think you’ll start to play Tank as often as Support now, if not more?
Yaaass, I see a lot of people talking about Zen being in a bad spot, but I’m having a ball with him. It’s true I’m forced to swap off more often, but if I’m not being focused, I’m dealing similar numbers in damage and death as my DPS. I still haven’t gotten use to his kick- I keep forgetting its a thing.
I look around at my team a bit more than I did in OW1. I also pay more attention to my ally support if they’re near.
I also don’t rez as much, which I think is a downside. I also pull out my pistol a lot more than I used to - still getting used to the ping system.
It is making me think more, which leads to overstimulation and less games overall, which is a bad thing. The messed up audio and everything is making me paranoid and I want to jump off a cliff other times.
