Though surely I was in the group of players that could enjoy the shooter heros without putting my team at a disadvantage. Right?
After being flamed for “being selfish” for not playing mercy moira…. I figured I would give it a try.
Nope I was wrong. I guess I was the reason why my team was loosing.
After playing for one night I’m close to hitting gm. My Moira win rate is 89% and my mercy isn’t far behind.
I’m in shock rn. This has ruined the game for me to be quite honest. I think I’m done with this game.

I never wanted to be gm. I have been repeated flammed for not playing moira and especially mercy.
Can’t imagine how it feels to be a mercy Moira player and try and play anything else w/o being flammed.
I always maintained that I was not the reason we lost.
I thought the harder hero’s were supposed to get better as you climb so I maintained that it wasn’t my fault that I was loosing. I thought I was and good enough to play hero’s like bap, Ana, zen, Kiriko without putting my team at a disadvantage.
That simply isn’t the case. I don’t know what rank you have to be…. Or how skilled you have to be to not be obligated to play those hero’s.
But me not doing so… was the reason… it so so obvious by how much higher I have climbed in just one sitting.

I think it comes down to what Blizzard thinks a skilled player is, rather than a skilled player being good at a character.
Then, it stands to reason that certain characters are indeed easier to climb with than others.
It kind of sucks being “penalized” by ranking up higher than you wanted to though.
Personally, I just want consistent and fair games. MM has yet to deliver!

Hmm how is this happening?
My original understand was…. There’s a threshold where picking a hero that’s hard to master would eventually outweigh picking a hero that’s easier to master.
My defense/thinking was if I made it to masters playing mechanically challenging heros… I had passed that threshold.
Does the matchmaker think I’m just really good at Moira or something? How is this happening?
It probably “thinks” you are a better Moira than other players who also play Moira.
Which just speaks to your technical skill.
Hmm interesting. I did switch m1 & m2 buttons on moira for perfect succ.
I though performance based SR stopped after diamond?
Obviously I need more than a couple of days of playing to see if this is a consistent pattern. But if I go up 500-1000sr i will be throughly confused
Performance based SR doesn’t exist now. It’s all winrate and winstreaks.
Unless this changed with season 4.

I heard someone on the forums claim they no longer consider stats at all but never confirmed this myself. Is it actually true? So you could go 11-9 but if you win then it thinks you’re good?

My best win rate heroes are Lucio Brig but DPS flame me to play my 39% Win rate Mercy and say if I don’t I am throwing.

A week ago I would take your side….I always think people should play their best heros. But maybe I’m wrong.
I have over 1000hrs on Ana alone me never made it past masters 4.

Nope.
You are throwing if you don’t play mercy. If your team doesn’t help you on mercy swap to Moira.

Nobody in GM is going to beg you to pick Mercy, and definitely not Moira. It’s almost entirely Ana/Kiriko/Zen from Masters up. You’re more likely to be reported for one-tricking Moira because she’s a throw pick in the upper ranks, and Mercy is infamous for being difficult to climb on by yourself. This comes off as trying to spin a narrative that paints Mercy and Moira as “being so easy you can hit GM with them with no skill required”, which has been proven false time and time again. At least make your story somewhat believeable next time.

Wig this story isn’t made up it’s sadly true. I have an account that I play on my own bc it’s easier to rank in solo q and an account I play with my friends on.
My friends irl will say things like “if we would have had a mercy there …we would have won… or if you would have gone Moira/brig into dive instead of playing bap or kiri we would have won.
I’ve mainted that I don’t have to… I was in masters on my solo account. And I did that w/o playing mercy or moira. It’s not my fault we are loosing…
So I try mercy moira on my solo account after a day of being flammed. I really give it a good try. Watch guides, swap keybindings…. Swap m1&m2 despite animations looking weird…
I am swapping between the 2 based on which is situationally better…. And I’ve been winning way more games and ranking up a lot easier.

What matters is the win condition. Right plays at the right time, typically toward the beginning and end of map sections. Stats don’t reflect those

Yes. I think the friends I have in IRL are even more toxic than randoms….
But even they think everything is the supports fault.
They see a mercy on the other team and we don’t have one. My fault. They see the enemy has Moira and is winning. My fault.
So I spam play the hero’s on my own everyone is complaining about me not playing. Try my hardest… give it a fair shot….
I don’t know if I’m just getting lucky, if it’s a weird matchmaker trick, if it’s just consistent, or maybe I was carried by my ow knoledge before….
But it has been strange to say the least. Maybe it’s a meta shift? Mercy and Moira are more survivable than most. We can all see why swapping to moira against dive hero’s is beneficial and why dmg boost would be good for hitscan duels…
I’m winning a lot. I’m really trying hard swapping when I need to…. The results are shocking.

The funny thing is, Mercy is hard to climb with in lower ranks, Once you hit diamond she becomes easier.
She has a WEIRD power curve.
