He also mentions he’s never been GM before. I knew the matchmaking were bad but this is just nuts.

His hidden mmr might have been around GM. If he can maintain that rank, then he was placed in the right rank.
What on earth? Getting placed a rank higher after the season to be at your “true mmr” at least makes sense. But this should just be an ordinary rank up. How can you rank up THAT much at once?

I mean after season beginning decay I went from d4 to plat 3.
I only just today did my rank ups and I went from plat 3 to d3. Almost d2 now.

I mean, I ended last season with GM5, then started in Masters 4 this season.
After one rank up I was in GM3 and another rank up later I am in Masters 2
If you play good, and much better than your rank, than the game tries to place you higher (this is MMR) until you’re in your true rank (so you’re basically stop ranking up, and need to farm and get even better). This is just another proof, that the matchmaking works fine.
We wont know until the MMR becomes visible stat… like you know… in normal games.
Also it is consoles.

It was a bug a the beginning of this season. Many people got dropped by like 400 SR, some went up. I dropped, won 5, and reranked from P3 to D3. Almost D2 now.
Some people got a glitch where they didn’t get their “true rank” at the start of the new season. The Devs said they fixed it and players affected will get their “true MMR rank up” during their first promotion.
That’s what must have happened here.
I have no idea wth happened either. I was plat 1 last season then i logged in and got reward and placed at diamond 3? Lol
Was GM5 support at the end of the season on an alt, got placed masters 3, went 5-1 during placements and got GM1.
A lot of boosted plats are probably going down so it pushes everyone else up in the process I would assume.
It’ll solve itself after a few weeks when people are back in their normal rank, GM players included.
