From a ball main, on minefield

Minefield needs some kind of nerf/buff so other hammonds can manage it. Hammond is a hybrid tank in my eyes, he can be main or off. There used to be a bug where you could roll right through Minefield (and other things like junkrat traps). Honestly, this needs to be brought back as an actual feature so we can manage space again, even when the enemy ball ults. Even though it’d be a huge buff, it’d still be risky to clear out a minefield because you could still get hurt if you didn’t pull it off right. Alternatively, we could have it completely ignore shields so that the other main tanks can’t destroy it either. But that would probably be OP.

You can still clear it very quickly without taking damage if you know it’s coming. You just need a decently timed roll (or more easily/reliably, piledriver) to do it. It’s not totally free to clear them anymore, but I don’t think it should be.

Well it’s totally free for other tanks, even off tanks, to clear them.

Um, no? D.Va can’t do anything but shoot, Roadhog’s Breather only lets him clear 4 without losing health, Zarya can only clear 4 with her bubbles, Orisa/Sigma can’t even clear half of the mines with their barriers before they break (which would leave them with no barriers for the teamfight), and even Reinhardt’s barrier breaks before clearing them all. Winston is really the only tank who can clear them all “totally free” because of his cleave.

hammond doesn’t need a nerf lol, you sure you’re a wb main?

No, it costs them their barriers and cooldowns…

It also costs shield health to main tanks, but still, removing even 4 of them is enough to take back space if you choose the correct ones. They’re also ridiculously easy to destroy.

I have hundreds of hours on him. This wouldn’t exactly be a nerf or a buff.

Okay, folks. Just dropping mines and rolling away is not the correct way to maximize them.

You need to use your abilities and bump targets into the mines, piledrive after dropping them. Basically force them into mines through whatever methods you and your team have.

Otherwise, just clearing them through the use of barriers, area effect projectiles (dynamite and more) will end up making them less than useful.

As it stands, mines are in fairly good shape if you learn how to use them.

It’s both a nerf and a buff at the same time because it’s a Ball vs Ball interaction. Also it used to be this way, it wasn’t necessarily better or worse per say, but it was much more fluid. I enjoyed it before because the matchup rewarded who used their mines better and not who got them first and dropped them on point.

Now i just farm for mines, drop them on point, and watch the other Ball roll away because he’s unable to clear them with top speed. Or it happens the other way around, where other Ball got mines first, dropped them, and then im sol with nothing i can do about it.

I really think the only buff that Hammy needs is for his adaptive shield player count to penetrate shields and bubbles and either a slightly higher base shield by 100 or a slightly extended range of 10 meters instead of 8. I think a lot of tanks could use some work and who are worse off than ball, but to bring him closer to Rein I think those changes would just about do it.
