Hi, I just noticed this when I went on OW. It says my friends list is empty. I tried restarting the game several times and it kept saying it. I also restarted battlenet but it still says the same. I know that I have friends online and so on, but I can’t see them and I can’t fix it.

this happen to me few months ago
for couple of days then my list came back all my friends in my list i think it was bc some group of hackers tried to hack the servers or maybe also at that time i was using very low quality 4g internet

I have the same issue - I have reinstalled both Battle.net and Overwatch and have deleted all associated cache files. Nothing seems to work though the Battle.net client shows all of my friends normally.
Same issue here. Started yesterday and Friend’s list still empty today.
Same battlenet app is fine, in game list is empty. Cant receive or send whispers in game etc

I noticed either yesterday or the day before that my friends list just disappeared. I still have everyone on Blizzard, but in Overwatch itself, my list is empty on both servers I play on.
Some Reddit thread suggested deleting certain files, so I tried that. I tried rebooting my Internet, and just in the past few minutes uninstalled the game and reinstalled it. Nothing’s fixing it. This is like the third night that I’ve had the issue.
Additionally, I accepted a random friend request to test if it would stay. It did, briefly - the name was on the list, but nobody else came back. I went to restart the game, and that one was gone as well.
Friends can see me online, and can invite me to a group. For some reason, at least as of last night, I could not see private messages in game, either - I had to use the Blizzard client itself.
The issue is still not resolved for me either.

I think they messed up the friend list when they are doing the cross-play stuff…
When I login in game, it’s shown that “my friend list is empty” in both of US/EU/Asia servers, but I can still saw all my friends in the battle launcher.
Next, when I try to add friend again in Overwatch, it’s said “we are already friends”.
I already tried this method :
but it still can’t fix it. My friend list still “empty” even I’m login into my other PC.
What should we do?

Same here, friends list is empty for 2 days since (17/6/21). When I try to add a friend again, it tells me “You are already friends with that invitee”.
Please fix it soon

Got this today, also found out that if your in a group with a friend with this bug you can endorse the friend multiple times, not sure if it gives exp for it but the friend doesn’t get the additional endorsements just the 1st one.

So the same thing happened to me yesterday and i find out that on pc you can change your online status in the game so i change it to appear offline then change it to online again and restart the game and that fixed the problem so that an idea for all of you to try
This happens to me every so often, but so far, just restarting OW fixes it for me.
you need to go into your battle net account settings and make sure that friends are enabled
