no it isnt, you are watching something and reacting at the correct time
Look up the definitions of reflex and reaction. reflex doesnt really apply to gaming because you are always consciously responding to a stimulus on the screen

It is totally me and not the game. I don’t make excuses for poor play. It is me.
Very serious.
Well, anyways for me higher hz beyond 240 or so are not about input latency but just about reducing display blur.
Even 240hz oleds still have it in noticeable amounts.
Which would be very easily noticed by most people if they could see a 240hz vs a zero motion blur display side by side in fast motion I reckon.
there’s a big difference between “poor play” and “in every other game i’ve ever played this shot would’ve hit but it misses” or “in every other game i would’ve tracked that perfectly but i can’t for some reason in this one.” or “my teammates are so terribad because the idiots at blizzard smooshed every rank together to increase playtime by pushing bronze MMR players up into silver/gold for them to get carried (and to avoid the social stigma of being bronze which would probably cause people to quit faster) and diamond/plat MMR players down into plat/gold so they’re playing against worse players on average for ez stomps, especially in groups”,
and what sucks is because players like you who don’t seem to want to see the bigger picture and push this myopic narrative that “everything is your own fault” so that players who are new to PC gaming or FPSs in general get stuck in the same idiotic masochistic mindset and eventually probably quit and move on to other things because clearly their terribad performance is only because of their own self being bad, not because they’re running the game at 30fps in borderless windowed with windows mouse accel and the matchmaker decided that now was the perfect time to give 4 bronze 5 bot teammates that don’t know what their max health values are, let alone how to play the game.
You’re part of the problem, do better please.
This will kill your card and force a windows TDR blue screen error crash. (nvlddmkm.sys)
No. You’re prepared for it in advance. You start moving before it happens. It’s not a fair comparison at all.
But…why? Wouldn’t you always want to reduce buffering no matter what?
I usually get around 160
I guess I’m just not human. I’m just a big birb.
Plus just upgrade your gear. It is hard to be fair when most players today have a better advantage from a better pc, monitor, and keyboard & mouse setup.
Not entirely true. My body physically reacts to a person rounding a corner before my mind actually catches up to what’s happening. Sometimes I shoot 2-4 bullets at teammates because of it. I’d call that a reflex.
So what about AMD?
Get a better GPU
a true test would be for your phone screen to display blank, and then have something pop up that you have to tap at a random interval not known to you in advance, and then measure how long it took for you to tap it after seeing it. You know where it will appear, just not when it will appear.
I’ve never seen anyone try claiming “taking responsibility for yourself” is being part of the problem before.
ok for anyone that’s tried this did it make a perceptible difference
I know you’re probably not looking for an answer from me given that i’m the one who made the post but i’ve had several friends try these settings as well and they have all noticed drastic improvements in aim consistency. Also i wouldn’t be making a post like this if i had no idea what i was talking about lol.
Alright i’ll try it later tonight
Btw where can I find this setting? Is this in control panel or
I get 500+ consistently at 1440p but would it be fine if I just put my monitor refresh rate (360hz)?
It is in the file where OW2 stores all of your clientside graphics settings, located in either
Documents\Overwatch\Settings
or
Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Overwatch\Overwatch\Settings
You should put it probably slightly lower than you get in big team-fights, for example if you notice your fps dipping to a minimum of 500, cap it to like 490 to be sure.
The code DK3VN works well for benchmarking if you aren’t sure exactly how low your framerate really goes.
Also make sure you don’t touch the ingame framerate slider after you set it to 600 and “DesiredFrameRate” to 600 or it breaks and you have to reset both settings. Also also settings in the config file don’t update while the game is launched so you need to have the game closed in order to change them.
Does it make the game feel smoother too?
Like i’m on a 360hz OLED and it looks choppy to me at times
From my experience yes it does.
