You have these 2 monitors: 22" 16:9 LCD TN panel monitor (with a resolution up to 1080p at 76hz) and a 22" 4:3 Diamondtron CRT monitor (it supports many resolutions, for example 100hz at 1600x1200, 125hz at 1280x1024 and 150hz in 1152x864). Which one would you use?
Also you should consider the Diamondtron CRT has a sharper image with any resolution and better colors than LCD , but it draws more power.
What is 76Hz, is that a thing? What is 1152x864, is that a thing? If these are things, I’d use the other thing.
76hz is the refresh rate. 1152x864 is a 4:3 resolution
I’d choose to play Competitive OW on the CRT.
I forgot a thing: the CRT has no input lag compared to an LCD. In the past i played with an AOC 9GLR Spectrum in 1152x864 @100hz. Was very smooth, but that monitor was huge on my desk
Competitive players prefer CRT as it has a number of advantages, which you’ve already outlined.
It’s quite ironic, when you think about how some people will spend thousands on a PG27UQ, when all you need to do is find an old CRT. Some places will literally pay you to take them.
A friend of mine has many CRTs in the junkyard, in the photo he sent me i noticed big monitors (maybe 19"). I also found 2 CRTs at my uncle’s home (a Hyundai Imagequest Q770 but is not that great). I would buy a 144hz LCD monitor if it costed 150€ or less. That’s why a competitive gamer would pick a CRT for free
I just use my Benq Xl2411,144hz, 1080p, 24", 16:9
You’re lucky to have one. For me would be quite tricky and would require much time get thr money for an LCD 144hz (for an high school student is not easy), that’s another reason i would stick with a CRT over my AOC G2260VWQ6
I got it when i was college student. It’s the best 300€ i ever spent tbh.
I believe. I saw a Yashi 144hz curved IPS monitor for ~150€ new on Eprice. IDK if it’s a scam.
How Overwatch would look like on a Sony Trinitron FW900 16:10?
I recommend buying benq or asus, those are good and reliable brands as far as monitors go at least
I saw AOC, Samsung, MSI and ViewSonic 144hz monitors around 200€. I even saw Acer 144hz but many users claim it has a bad looking panel
Refresh rate on a CRT > a 1080p TN panel at 76hz any day of the week.
Hope you’re on the CRT now. Enjoy!

Even a pro player of OW and Quake called HAL (Thomas Avallone, brother of Stermy) said me CRT is fine if it does a least 100hz with a good resolution
CRT displays have essentially no input lag. And if you want to play to your best you pretty much want at least 120hz or more.
Can the rest of your hardware keep up with the CRT?
True, i noticed the difference. It was clearly smoother than my LCD and helps a lot with tracking, aiming and reaction time.
Yes, tried in the past with an AOC 9GLR and had no issues. Using an R7 360, a Ryzen 5 1400 and 8gb ddr4 3000mhz.
