These mock patch notes are made with the goal of reducing frustration with Freja’s kit, and rebalancing her into what I think would be a healthier state for every party involved. Numbers can always be further tuned. Posts like these are to promote discussion, and to share your own opinions.
I am not interested in dumpstering heroes. I try my best to suggest surgical changes to introduce healthy amounts of counterplay while also preserving what makes a hero enoyable and also permit them to be reasonably powerful.
FREJA
Revdraw Crossbow:
Spread removed.
Take Aim:
Projectile radius reduced from 0.175 to 0.12.
Projectile speed reduced from 125 m/s to 90 m/s.
Quick Dash:
Cooldown reduced from 4.5 seconds to 4 seconds.
Movement speed (horizontal) reduced reduced from 19.42 m/s to 15 m/s.
Updraft:
Cooldown reduced from 12 seconds to 10 seconds.
Maximum height reduced from 8.4 meters to 7 meters.
Allow me to explain the changes to mobility, as I believe this may be quite a point of contention.
I maintain that what made Freja enjoyable in her earlier state was the fluidity of movement.
As such, I have reduced the cooldown, but reduced the burstiness of Quick Dash to make it more readable, and to naturally reduce the spaminess of Take Aim as a bonus.
Additionally, while buffing the cooldown for Updraft, I reduced its maximum height. This will make it easier for her to be contested while using it, and prevent her from freely controlling otherwise inaccessible angles.
The changes to the cooldowns are to balance her around the more risky positions she will now have to take.
The very aggressive change to Take Aim projectile speed is for no other reason than to reduce her consistency at range. She will have to be more careful about balancing her mobility cooldowns toward defensive and/or offensive uses, while being forced closer to the fight.
Her being hitscan ish makes her a hitscan specialist go to, which are peak, like Sojourns rail. Having those feel good makes the heroes some of the coolest additions to the game
The reason Hanzo feels like trash to play is cause of a flying hero Juno with speed + flight, literally ruined the hero and you want to slow down Freja’s projectile making her useless lol
Yes it is slightly faster when Ashe is ADSing (Ashe is also slowed down when she is aiming ofc). That grenade was broken, and flash was more broken. OP E crutches to prevent Cree players from dropping out of their ranks like dead flies.
Dash just needs to not reset Take Aim, let the quick build Ult with bonus charge on kills be her gimmick. No need for her to be able to Right-Click,Dash,Right-Click,Dash,Right-click,Updraft,Dash,Right-click and say goodby to the enemy tank. Without the dash resetting Take Aim they can then tool the cooldowns of her movement skills properly to be used as movement skills instead of even more bursty damage skills.
