So about a month ago i started up ow and noticed that my frames were capped at around 60. this is unusual because i normally get around 200+ ive tried every fix that i can think of (game settings all set to low, frames set to 300, vsync is off and ive uninstalled and reinstalled 3 times now along with other little things) but still i am capped at 60 fps. Any help/suggestions will be appreciated
Hey, Recklessfun!
Locate Documents/Overwatch/Settings folder and delete this folder. This will default all in-game settings. I would also recommend to default your graphics driver settings:
If you have any game profiling software like Geforce Experience, make sure it is closed, then launch the game on defaulted settings. Make sure V-sync is off and see if it still caps at 60 FPS
You may also want to try to disable fullscreen optimizations:
• In the Blizzard App, select the Options drop down in the Overwatch tab and select Show in Explorer
• Right-click on Overwatch.exe and select Properties
• Go to the Compatibility tab and check the box ‘Disable fullscreen optimizations’
• Press Apply and OK
Sorry for the late reply, I tried both of these things and neither of them helped.
Recklessfun,
Do you have the game auto-optimized by your graphics card settings (Catalyst Control Center or Geforce Experience? If so, disable that, then reset the game settings again. You may also need to check your power settings.
If this doesn’t work - are you capped everywhere, including in game, or just in the menus? Forced 60 FPS caps are normal in the menus. We’ll also need some info on your setup. Please generate a text copy of your DxDiag using these instructions. Once you have that made, open the file. You’ll need to copy and paste the contents of the Text document into the post using the “Code” button (</>). This will give me some more information which I can use to dig deeper into this case.
