Frame Skips/Dips with GTX 980

Been getting some skipped frames recently, nothing that any FPS tracker picks up on or if it does, it doesn’t drop very far, so it’s a little weird, and just a few moments ago I was getting some really bad dips.

So just to get them out of the way, here are my specs:

Mobo: MSI Z97 Gaming 5
CPU: i5-4690
GPU: MSI GTX 980
Memory: 16gb 1866MHz DDR3

Monitor: 2x 1920x1080 60hz monitors, only one is used for Overwatch (figured i should clarify two are active)

I also have Overwatch set to High Priority in task manager through Regedit.

Framerate Capped at: 165fps
Cam Average FPS: 136 (taking into account frames locked at 60fps on title screen)
Average I’ve seen: 150-ish FPS.

My frames are capped at 165, but fluctuations put them them around 150ish occasionally dipping into mid 140’s in the heat of battle. And I’ve been seeing some small skips that don’t seem to be picked up by both the in game framerate tracker or CAM.

Recently found out I could raise the frequency, and managed to get 92hz out of one of my 60hz monitors, problem occurred at both 60hz and 92hz.

Need to know if this is average for a 980 or if I should be getting better performance?

Since you’re well within the playable range for fps, this is definitely more of an enthusiast question, and you might get better feedback in General or elsewhere. Blizzard doesn’t give any official stance on how much fps each card should deliver on Overwatch, as far as I know.

Should I just move the topic over then?

Yeah, it might see more traffic and get input from other players with the same or similar setup.

Sounds good, thanks for the advice!

Same problem 1080 TI

Damn, similar settings?

Edit:
Moved from tech to general upon recommendation, then mod moved back to tech
