FPS Stuttering After Recent Patch

After the latest Blizzard Battle.net update and the Overwatch update, my Overwatch keeps dropping to a slideshow framerate every few seconds. Everything was running fine before this update, no settings have been changed and no drivers have been updated etc. Looked over the other threads made and nothing helped either

I met the same issue.
Last version is fine.

Howdy Dragour,

Have you tried the steps here? If so, let’s get a DxDiag:

  1. Press Windows Key + R.
  2. Type DxDiag and press Enter.
  3. In the DxDiag window, click Save All Information.
  4. Name the file “dxdiag” and click Save
  5. Paste the DXdiag into the post, select and highlight everything you just pasted, and hit the “preformated text” button (</>). That’ll make the information much more readable.
It should look like this.

If you have issues pasting here, please use Pastebin and post the link (ex: Pastebin (dot) com/123456).

does it only happen with borderless window? thats my problem

The DxDiag said it went over the character limit by 300 so I will have to try that Pastebin, and no it happens in fullscreen too sadly

All games on your system are triggering RAM usage warnings. You may want to check the memory for errors or disable any overclocking. I also noticed you have an odd amount of RAM - 12GB. Overwatch runs best on dual-channel, meaning both sticks are the same size and speed.

I ran a memory test and it came back with no problems.
The problem is that Overwatch ran perfectly for ages before this 1.57.1.0.78777 patch

The Windows memory test isn’t very reliable. You could check for overheating as well. Make sure to use an app designed for that, like HWMonitor and not Afterburner or similar “stats apps.”

I ‘think’ I may have fixed my stuttering problem, my nVidia driver was up to date and everything else ran fine but after searching through forums I have performed a custom install and selected “clean install”, it seems to have fixed any hidden problems

Oh, I thought you had been doing clean installs the whole time. Glad you caught it and figured it out

Hey uhm would you mind telling me how do I do a “clean install” I’m having fps drop too and looks like devs won’t do a thing to help us

If you use nVidia, open your GeForce Experience and go to the Drivers tab, should say it’s up to date etc, click More (3 dot line on the side) and select Reinstall Driver, then Custom Install (not Express) and the next section will have an option at the bottom “clean install”
