Fps problem in comp

So ive bought a geforce GTX 1060 gpu i was expecting some phat fps rates when having everything set to low and 100% rendering.
But what happens is that when im in practice range the fps bounces between 180-220. But when i join a comp game my fps bounces between 130-100 and ive set my fps rate to custom 300. Can someone help me this is frustrating if i wanted to play on 100fps i could have kept my older gpu (radeon r7 360)…

Any help is appreciated.

What kind of monitor do you have? set your max frames to be 10 more than your display. Its pointless to get 300 fps if you only have a 144 monitor

Uh dude wth my gtx 780 (not ti) gives me 100 constant on all max (150% rendering) . I think you got ripped off dude if its an old gpu. But try set buffering to off. Also play fullscreen only. Also dont take my word but I overclocked my gpu to stable. So you could try overclocking your gpu too to get higher rates. But it can be risky but not too risky.
Also it could be your ram. When i built my pc I only had 4 gb with 780. Even tho i would get 100 fps it would always fluctuate a lot. After i got 4 more gigs of ram the problem went away. 8 gb is recommended for smooth fps. You can also try overclocking ram.
Also i used the word also a lot. Lul

Whats your CPU and general your system?

Intel® i5-4460S CPU @ 2.90GHz with 8G ram.
My monitor is 144 HZ and i play on fullscreen always.

Set lighting and shadows to low or off. It takes up alot of resources to calculate that on the fly when there’s alot of action going on. Also disable fog, and reflecitons.

everything is on low and whatever has OFF option is on off.

To everyone replying to play on low. I dont think you should be playing on low man. A 1060 is a serious gpu (Sure its not top notch). But its not a gpu you buy to only play on low everything. I think there is something wrong with your ram man. Maybe the speed is low or your cpu cant process fast enough. Or maybe even storage. But like man 1060 is supposed to get 100 fps on everything max. How can my 780 achieve all max 100 fps but yours cant? I say you resort to a post in tomshardware or other techy forums. Trust me dude you dont want to resort to all low. It completely changes the game.

I had all settings on Ultra and 150% render and i got around 60 fps when in comp but in practice range i was at 80 fps. Ill have a check on tomshardware you might be right im not too good with computer stuff

I think its the old cpu man. Your gpu and cpu have a night and day difference. It is probably handicapping your gpu performance. I advise you to get a ryzen 1400 or 1600. They are fairly cheap compared to intel.

Does this ryzen cpu work with a msi nightblade mi1?

Uh idk what that is. But you can use pcpartpicker to see if parts are compatible. Here is what I think what you should do before you think of buying anything:
Overclock your gpu. It helps a lot, if overclocked properly you can boost fps by like 15 to 20%
You can try overclocking ram too. But i dont think overclocking ram in intel systems will do anything.

Alrite ill try and read up on how to overclock gpu just hope it doesnt break. My graphic clock is set to 620MHz out fo 1240MHz and memory clock si set to 3802 MHz out of 4804 MHz.

Wait what your gpu is at 620 mhz currently? Also is it the 3gb or the 6gb version of 1060?
Uh 1060 should be running at like 1500 mhz not 620 wth.

Just put everything on low, i have 144hz monitor and i can’t stand framerate drops. Low surprisingly doesn’t look that bad.

im using the standard setting its the 6Gb version.

Yea dude um your gpu clock speed is set to like minimum of 620 mhz. No wonder your gpu is underperforming. Forget overclocking your gpu is underclocked. Slide up the 620mhz to max and see what happens when you restart overwatch.

Ï clocked it to max and i was getting 150-180 ingame thanks alot.
But ive lowered it it read that overclocking can dmg the gpu and i dont want to do that. Thank you a lot amigo.

My pleasure my dude. One more advice. Never listen to anyone who says play on low. Life is too short to miss out on the max graphics glory. Cheers my friend.

I dont think turning it to 1280 mhz was overclocking. For 1060s 1280 is recommended. Hell better version of 1060 runs at avg 1500 mhz. So dont worry man. Overclclocking gpu doesnt harm gpu. You will only see the effects after 5 or 6 years of use. By then your gpu will become trash tier anyway. So dont be scared man. People who say that stuff prolly never done it before. Turn it upto 1280 mhz. You will only know you gpu is being dangerously harmed is when your game just stops midgame and says something like graphical device lost or rendering device lost. Other than that overclocking is fine. But for now just turn it to 1280 since this is what is recommended
