FPS Drops of +100 fps or more, spikes in frametimes

Hey there,

I’ve been having terrible frame drops of just over 100fps in game.

I’m having a terrible time keeping a consistent frame rate.

Regardless of settings, I’ll be averaging a particular range of fps lets say for example medium at about 200 - 240fps or low at about 250 - 300.

Either setting, frame rates will drop into the 150s or lower with reliability.

It’s not a CPU bottleneck, in this instance I’m running the game in 4k and can be replicated across the resolution board with varying degrees.

1440p all low averaging 400 - 500 fps, then drops into the mid to low 200s.

I’m not sure what’s causing it, but a perfect case is during kill cams or spawn, or during team fights (Not always) but especially on newer maps. Midtown or the Spain map for example.

I’m updating my windows to see if that has any effect, but I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this.

I’m getting stutters too. Big frame drops.

Same here.

1070 GTX and turning down graphic tiers to Medium/Low and still get frame stutters and huge FPS drops in battle.

OW1 the same PC easily stable 120+ FPS including battles and set to Ultra-Epic. whatever was done to the game has been poorly optimised.

Yeah.
The inconsistent frame times are causing a ton of issues with my enjoyment.
It’s bad enough having it go from 9ms to 40, but when it spikes to 500, that’s extremely painful.

Same here, im getting really bad drops that make it unplayable, going from 400fps to 100 or less. Although it was not happening to me before the updates to fix the queue.
I have a 3090 ti, 12900k and im running medium settings.
Its like the game is running in windowed mode but its full screen.
I should not be having any issues with my build.

Same here. 11600K + 3060 Ti yet I am stuttering to around 120 FPS?? LMAO

Really what do you expect from Free to play skin moneygrabbing cash cow ? Look at Apex Legends frame drops or horrible Warzone servers… This is why F2P games suck a lot even tho those are making more money than regular games. Yeah same goes for father of F2P ThFortnite as well, some people just cant play it (me included) because of horrible stutters in game. There is no problem with your or mine PC as we can tell everything is running just fine and stress tests are OK, its just horrible optimizations of those games and dirt cheap servers. Gaming is just business for franchise owners, they dont care about the game cuz they dont play it. Typical selfish rich people, all they care is their wealth.

Is this the same problem i’m experiencing?

I’m experiencing the same problem. I’ve tried everything.

  • changed settings including all of the recommended ones by all of the videos out there
  • changed graphics settings
  • updated my gpu
  • ran system updates
    etc.

I have a higher end pc - 2070 super 8gigs vram, 16 gigs of ram, ryzen 5 3600x ~ 3.8Ghz.
It doesn’t matter what fps I run the game at but I can run it at 400 or higher.

The problem is that regardless of what my fps is it’ll still drop by 100 or so frames whenever entering certain situations (team fights, scoping in on ana, scoping in on widow). I am a former OW1 player and I never had these issues with that game. I’m at a loss at what to do and can only imagine that it may be an optimization issue with the game engine.

I do not have MSI Afterburner. Game is almost unplayable.

Does anyone else have the same drops when characters are respawning or swapping?

I think i found the issue. I haven’t been able to fix it by changing settings so i just ended up turning everything on ultra and dealing with it. fps drops the same either way but at least tech knows about it and are working on it.

I’m fairly certain that’s definitely part of the issue if not the issue. I just did some testing and the stuttering happened when people were respawning/coming back to the point BUT there seems to be another issue going on as well. Not totally sure because it’s really difficult to gauge but I definitely think the issue you posted is impacting what’s going on if not the cause.

I have this issue on my system.
7820X + 2080Ti

i9 9900K + RTX 3080. the exact same problem, Enabling ReBAR made matters a whole lot better but still from time to time. the game will stutter and hard for a while.

i7 8700 + RTX 2070 and have fps drop issue too no matter what setting. CPU and GPU usage are always at low to medium level. If I set the framerate Automatic, it goes 144fps but randomly drops ~10-20 frame. If I set it 300fps, it happens the same way. ~10-20 frame drop is not so bad but very annoying because it still causes a stutter.
I notice it happens not necessarily in heavy combat with lots of effects but randomly even when I just zoom scope or melee an object.

Ye, I went to training ground and noticed it too. Tried different keyboards and usb ports. Not solved.

Any luck with this? Assuming this is what is happening to me. Two difference PCs that can run at 144hz at or near max settings but I am always at lowish settings with most stuff turned off… random extreme stutters.

Seems to also effect my sound which is really odd.

EDIT: Almost certain now it does in fact cause my sound to stutter as well. Its quick and then gone. Also of note is I can go long periods without it happening (hours) or it can happen every 10 to 30 seconds.

It also happens in training room so no single hero or skin seems to be the cause.
