i7 8700 + RTX 2070 + 32GB of RAM
I heard that Overwatch 1&2 is an CPU intensed game, but with Low setting it usually uses under 10% CPU usage, maybe higher in combat but never above 30%. GPU usage is about 30-50%. Higher settings wouldn’t be much different.
The problem is I get FPS drops every now and then when I press Tab, scope zoom or randomly hit something… No matter what settings: Low or High, Dynamic Resolution on or off, Render Scale 50 or 100, Vsync on or off… and yes, I have latest drivers and I’ve set Overwatch runs with high priority and the PC with high performance. If I set FPS cap to Automatic it runs with 144fps then randomly drops to ~130fps. If I set to 300fps it runs with ~280fps then randomly drops to ~240fps. Not huge drops but suddenly so it causes stuttering every minute and the game becomes unenjoyable. It’d happened with Overwatch 1, but not as bad.
And the latency. I usually got ~40-60ms with Overwatch 1 but now it gets to 80-120ms. So I wonder whether it’s a region server thing.
Im having the same issue.
So I think I found the reason in my case, but I don’t how to fix it.
I went to the Training Ground, pressed Ctrl-Shift-N to bring up the Network Graph and noticed:
- When I stood still and only used mouse the SIM was stable and no fps drop, but when I suddenly pressed my keyboard it caused SIM pike and fps drop a dozen.
- After that I continued to use the keyboard and it got stable for some time before the random SIM pike and fps drop.
So I think it must be the keyboard input problem, but I don’t know how to fix it. I tried every other USB ports and different keyboards but it didn’t help.
Hi Lucif3r.
Were you running Msi Afterburner + RTSS when the problem occurred?
I had same problem, below is how I fixed it.
go RTSS window. turn Application detection level to None.
that’s all
Ye, I also found the problem was caused by Rivatuner and wrote the solution a few days ago in another post.
You don’t need to turn it off or set detection level to None though, just set the Custom Direct3D Support to ON for Overwatch.exe.
