These last few patches have tanked my FPS quite a lot. I’ve made posts before about this in general and it seems that most others are also noticing it.
I have a 7800X3D with a 7900 XT, 32 GB RAM. I have a clean OS install dedicated just for gaming. I used to get consistent 600 FPS with no drops.
Now it is so unstable at times it drops by 100-200 FPS and it really makes playing this game irritating because I’m used to a smooth experience.
I’m looking at my friend’s PC who is on an NVIDIA card, and their FPS went from a solid 400 to barely keeping 330 and dropping to 200 frames. If you have a high refresh rate monitor, you’ll definitely feel this as stutters.
I have tried everything already and contacted customer support which has not been helpful. I tried reinstalling the game, Windows (twice), GPU drivers (upgrade, downgrade, even custom drivers). Settings are already at the lowest they can be. Even at 50% resolution, the FPS drops are still there, I’m pretty sure it’s not my GPU or CPU being problematic here.
You may want to look into whether one of the recent Windows update bugs is causing the issue. They released another fix on Windows 11, specifically for gaming.
That said, Blizzard doesn’t offer official support for FPS optimization or drops. Optimizing beyond 60fps is considered an enthusiast endeavor.
I don’t believe that they don’t optimise past 60 though, they’re a competitive FPS and the game used to hit 600 FPS on lesser hardware easily.
It’s these past few updates that seems to have killed it, and not just for me but for every single friend that plays OW and the streamers I watch too. We’re all experiencing it across multiple platforms, but Blizzard is ignoring it
I’m saying they don’t work with players one-on-one to help them achieve fps values beyond 60. I’m sure their developers are aiming for higher with the game’s capabilities, but whether your hardware goes beyond 60fps is up to you.
