Its one thing that a hitscan character is OP or not and that every meta revolves around how to keep hitscans at bay.

Its an ability based hero shooter. As a McCree main i say that hitscans shouldnt take away everything from players that just want to play a different game with different weapon types and various abilities.

I think people just want to play Pharah and not constant get one shot or always need a Mercy pocket. Same with Genji, same with a lot of projectile heroes. Hitscans will always be strong and probably better just because of how consistent they are. I think buff some projectile heroes instead of nerfing all hitscan.

It worked in some games i’ve played before but that would mean that they have to count in damage boost pocketing for projectile heroes like Pharmercy.

I definitely wouldn’t consider Sombra a trash pick. It depends on whether the team plays with the Sombra or not.
A friend of mine climbed to Masters in his active ranked time. With Doomfist and Sombra! and has stayed there.
I haven’t played much with him yet, but the rounds where I played with him, he carried us with Sombra. 3-4 EMPs in under 10 minutes, each EMP a push, a team fight, a win.

Lets see why people think the hitscan are overtuned.

Lets look at GM DPS sorted by pickrates, Lets look at the top 6
Tracer
McCree
Ashe

Echo
Widowmaker
Soldier: 76

THAT right there is why people think they are overtuned.

It is hitscan, and echo. and ONLY hitscan and echo.

I am, but, I CAN read the pick rates in GM. It isn’t me being Biased, it is that they push out the projectile heroes. Echo is LITERALLY the only non hitscan in the top 6.

So do yourself a favor, and understand WHY people think Hitscan are overtuned. It isn’t some kind of anti-hitscan sentiment. It is that they have pushed out the non hitscan heroes out of play in the upper ranks.

Funny because sombra has/had a negative win rate yet everyone deemed her OP /s

It is because people are salty as hell.

dont forget about Ana’s scope, it is considered hitscan and functions the same as other hitscan bullets

it’s not the biggest issue but a good (or lucky) Ana can pick off uncovered DPS with 3 shots instantly. it takes less than 3 seconds and there’s very little chance to react if you’re far out of position, as many flanks tend to be

So how was it anti-hitscan bias to buff her?

So McCree getting a buff to his HP is anti-hitscan bias?

Soldier’s been buffed in the past when he was weaker like you said…

So how is this anti-hitscan bias?

Also you’re complaining about ultimates… Having hitscan is super powerful, so the ultimates are a tad weaker to compensate. It’s called balance

She’s been getting changes and got a rework to help her. You may argue she’s a trash pick, I don’t care, she’s gotten more attention than many other heroes.

So, how is this anti-hitscan bias?

You really reaching here. They buffed her falloff range when she didn’t even need it. She’s arguably one of the best characters…

You cite her not being played much in the past as anti-hitscan bias, but you don’t count buffing her when she doesn’t even need it pro-hitscan bias?

If it isn’t entirely clear at this point you are suffering from confirmation bias it should be after that.

Yes, please, that’d be a first in this post.

Therefore: Anti-hitscan bias.

Freaking hilarious.

You need to take your own advice.

You even just said you’re most likely to die to hitscan… How is that design anti-hitscan?

Hitscan snipers being the constant meta, and that it feels like any time a projectile hero is decent, they get hammed into the ground for not being OWL approved.

And yet he was still one of the top 3 dps and meta for like 4-5 straight months with that fire rate buff. He had one of the best primary fires in the entire game. I fail to see how winrate is relevant there. There was obviously some other contributing factor to his low winrate. High rank players don’t pick “trash characters” in high volume. They pick characters that win them games.

Soldier and Hanzo have pretty much identical pickrates, also neither of the two have pickrates that high to be considered “meta” picks in GM, same with Widow, although I’d imagine she’s played more in OWL

When people say hitscan is overtuned they’re talking about ranged hitscans. Not Sombra or Reaper. Using them as examples is disingenuous.

Then for you to even try to argue that Bastion is trash, therefore hitscans are ok, is laughable at best. Bastion is the worst hero in the game, always has been and has been deliberately ignored despite this. Him being hitscan is irrelevant.

Once those are removed you’re left with a list of heroes that are at worst “good” and at best overpowered.

Omg you destroyed them… so brutal.

You put tracer at medium???

oh so you are calling these heroes weak so lets compare them to projectile heroes and see how much BETTER they are than hitscan : )

Tracer is NOT a medium pick. She’s straight up meta alongside Echo. Every other hitscan except for Bastion and Reaper is an all around good pick.

pharah is just in a bad place because hitscan are meta right now and supports like zen, bap, and ana are popular.

In fairness, Barriers were much beefier back then. An Ashe/Soldier combo is sadly good enough to bust barriers these days. It also helps that Sig/Orisa (long range poke tanks) countered her back then before guttings.

His aim was “inconsistent” compared to even more broken hitscan options. They buffed him in several ways and now he is better for lower ranks.

IMO pre-Helix cooldown buff soldier was the most balanced dps we have ever had in the game, and should be the character in which all dps are modeled. this new one is a hitscan abomination.

nerf zipline cooldown preventing it’s use as an escape tool, and I will agree.

Otherwise, good list.
