Forums need Cleaning

Why do I come here?! Granted I don’t come here as much…

I actually DISLIKE the majority of people here. I don’t like people who can’t logically think and form solid opinions. Sadly that’s a lot of people here, and they far weight out the good ones.

Most people are:

  1. Quick to tell you how you are wrong, and they are right.
  2. Base their opinions on things that shouldn’t matter.
  3. Make nonconstructive or numerous complaining posts.
  4. Don’t play the game much anymore or let alone a hero to speak on balance of a hero.
  5. Contradict themselves.

I can read forum posts right now where people can agree to OP because they are POPULAR or whatever reason, but I read back on older forum posts Ive placed On the SAME EXACT ISSUES or suggested the SAME FIX on a HERO (sometimes in a worse timeframe on when that hero was much stronger), and I’m told I’m wrong. Get good. I’m stupid. Stop complaining.

Maybe the forums are nothing but a cesspool of the vain and the lonely.

Very few are here to use the forums what they were intended for. Very few actually want balance and refuse to look inside themselves to know when to adapt or get better.

I’ve realized this post is pretty negative, but I’m just being a mirror here for you guys.

I hate two faced people and a LOT of you are.
I hate people who can’t keep an open mind and that’s the majority of the world.
I hate rude people and there’s a ton of you here.

After comparing a current post on hog to a post I made about him when he was OP my respect of this place dropped to zero. I only have respect for certain people.

Not going to be on here as much, and I’m going to start making it a point to only interact with the people who are here to make the forums better- not worse.

Have a good day.

Editor’s Note: I got more replies than I was expecting so I want to clear a few things up and explain myself better.

This is a longer explanation. I apologize, and if anyone wants a tdlr I’m not good at writing them. I suck at summing it up so if anyone can for me thank you, and I can edit it back in.

In this forum there 5 types of people in my eyes. I look at it as us trying to create and expand a beautiful home-

First and foremost there are the good architects. These are the actual people who aren’t afraid to speak on balance and are actually trying their best to make a better bigger home (overwatch) for EVERYONE. Sometimes they have great ideas but always have good intentions. Sometimes they fail when they are pointed out mathematical flaws in their designs. They will usually go back to the drawing board. I love the good architects- the ones who asks questions and seek to find their own flaws. The ones who aren’t afraid to think outside the box. There’s very few of you here. There needs to be more here. These are the people I crave to interact with. They are more grounded and use the forum for what it was intended for. They aren’t afraid to dream big either. If you are this-thank you.

Secondly, There’s the bad architects. These are the people who speak on plumbing when they never have done plumbing in their life. These are the people who want glorious spacious rooms for a certain roles but Harry Potter rooms for certain heroes or just would rather a hero be homeless. These are the people who don’t think their plans through before presenting. This are the people who will spill opinion after opinion instead of checking the facts. God there’s a lot of you here. Some bad architects are new and come and go, but some I see constantly making half baked crap cakes… everyday.

Thirdly, there’s council members or the committee. There’s good council people and bad council people. I call them council members in the sense they usually will reply on a balance thread instead of presenting them. We all can act in this role instead of an architect. Whether you are good or bad depends on if your rude, if you actually chose to read, understand, and respect others. Give solid feedback that the architect and understand. Be open minded! Simply put you make the atmosphere and the forums a better place or can make it just as worse. I have no issues with being a council member myself because if it’s a topic I’m not sure on, I turn into a council member. Plus how do you expect others to listen if you can’t listen too?

Fourthly, there’s the “general public” the council member who doesn’t want to be on the committee anymore but wants to still keep using the facility. The facility being the forums. I know I’m going to step on a few toes but Im speaking on this issue. The issue is when a council member is making stupid announcements (posts) like “Its Taco Tuesday.” Well no :poop:!? I have a huge issue to the council members that reside here making threads like it’s some social disco. I honestly blame this type of crowd for why the forums became so cliche in the first place. I like some council members, and I am friends with a few… but I get irritated with how many use the forums. There’s a few threads to chill on- so go there to have your drinks and gossip. Hell or go on our discords and do your social disco there instead of derailing others threads or making numerous non constructive posts. Be mature and use the forums for what was intended. Like making A nonconstructive rant post once in a blue moon isn’t a sin and neither is a joke post but “all the time”? I just shake me head. I have ZERO use for you guys. ZERO Respect if you act that this and use the forums like this. There’s places to be social Butterflies-use them properly.

There’s a fifth type of person and this is a destroyer or otherwise known as a troll… I don’t think I need to go any explanations on this as we all dislike them equally. I’d also like to add though I consider people who falsely flag under this as well though. Some amazing architects and council members have been banished from these type of people and there’s a lot of wolves in sheep’s clothing guys.

I will never give you hope that we are still a tool like can help blizzard make Overwatch better. Our feedback matters! If someone truly believes we aren’t then there’s no point to this place.

I’d like to see this be a place of good intellectual discussions and for us to not be considered a joke by most of the community. This goes back to us making changes for ourselves.

I think it kinda is important for you to specify: Contradict how? Over how long of a time frame? If it's been a month, perhaps opinions change and they may contract their past self. Although the forgivability heavily relies upon context, like if you contradict yourself one post later then it's kind of a problem.
Pls be me (nah jk if you don't like me then that's unfortunate yet understandable)

Contradict within same argument/debate within same thread. Otherwise I consider it them changing their mind of the course of a month or two which people are allowed to do.

Ah, understandable.

Welcome to the forums you’ll fit right in

You can say that again. One of my top 5 pet peeves on these forums is when people say no hero should be deleted, then in another thread they say the hero they don’t like is trash designed and should be removed.

Double standards here on heroes can be crazy

I think everyone here thinks the same as you. The only diff is that they are the ones in the right, and the rest are wrong. Just like how you worded your post.

Am I the only person who likes the majority of the people here?

I wouldn’t say ‘like’, but I pretty much hate or dislike no one here.

“Hero is bad for the game, needs to be removed”
2 minutes later, on a different thread:
“My main is important to the game and no hero should be removed in the first place”

Also hey KelsoFox, don’t think I’ve seen you in a while.

We may disagree here, but I think that strong-opinionated people are healthy. As long as they are mannered and constructive, I see no problem with being quick to criticize.

I respect your input here, but truth be told, posts like these (not just yours! Several others as well) give those people EXACTLY what they want.

Acknowledging these people gets us nowhere. When we ignore them and deny them of the attention they want, that’s when we start making a change.

i love seeing different people on the forums, a fresh mind is good.

too bad people take awhile to get used to change.

I love the people on here. Trolls are annoying and whatever, but the forum regulars are really fun to talk with

I like to think I bring a certain flair and panache to this dreary place. That being said, I can see why people on here would dislike me. :sunglasses:

Erotic Theodore Tugboat fanfiction incoming…

Nah, I also like people, I wouldn’t hang around if I didn’t.

You say this, however you don’t seem to realize those 5 points you highlight your in fact doing. If you want to see changes, they have to come from within first.

Timing is everything, i make some suggestion some agree with some don’t, i just speak into the void down the road if someone runs with it i don’t need bragging rights i am just glad someone agrees with my idea.

People come here to socialize about the game they like to play, whether that is to spout nerf that hero into the ground or give that hero god-like abilities.

Open-mindedness is a 2way street, just because people might disagree on every-point doesn’t mean they are not open-minded. It is your job to convey your ideas in a persuasive manner that might make people agreeable.

It can’t be 0 or you wouldn’t have made this post.
