It sucks because that subreddit is filled with D.Va haters, but if you’re looking to get across to the devs your frustration with the state of tank balance, reddit is where to go.
This is exactly why they left the forums. Every time they would make any type of post, they would just get berated with harsh off-topic criticism that just ruins the experience of the forums for them.
Literally if they would post about any OW2 news you would have people lined up asking “NERF HIM”, “BUFF HER”, “DUMPSTER THESE HEROES” and it probably got old for them.
Forums hate reddit, reddit hates forums. Nothing new.
The Overwatch players do that because the devs only show up once in a blue moon.
I’m part of the community of another game and you know what doesn’t happen to their main community manager person? They don’t get bum rushed with every single issue under the sun when they post because they’re actually present and interacting with the community. Them showing up isn’t your one chance in a 2+ month span to maybe actually get your voice heard. Because of that… people actually stay on topic when talking to the person.
Reddit is a worse echo chamber than the forums
Wrong opinions usually means that 1. Your thread gets downvoted along with a few snarky comments, or 2. banned because its reddit and they perma ban you for almost anything
R/cow is a literal echo chamber. Because of the downvote system you just get discussion that is almost always steered in a certain direction and only certain opinions are allowed. It’s just like when there was a downvote system on the official forums. Not to mention a majority of the content is Esports drama.
except for when he answers on here right?
people ask questions on reddit also…he can respond there too you know…
As if that doesn’t happen on reddit as well. If they can spare time to respond on reddit then they have no excuse to not respond here
What you are saying is the devs of that commmunity…care about their game? That’s wild!
Can confirm. I played a few mmos, they’d have community managers (not all, but most). They would tell the players what they were allowed to say, play along with the community, and be a human. Then tell the devs/etc what the players thought/saw. I remember being able to voice a nerf idea for a certain build in one of these games, and the nerf happened and I got referenced. Blizz does a lot of things wrong, this zero speech is bad.
Personally i dont care to reach them anymore, they have proven what they have proven, i dont expect anything from them.
They don’t want to interact with part of the community that went out of their way to use their accounts on THEIR forum because people are even more critical - which isn’t ok imo. It shows that you have no real backbone or even confidence in your actions if you can’t take criticism
Question: Where would be the best place to post issues to Overwatch that are non-balance related? I posted here and on /r/overwatch.
I know right? Whoda thunk that the community would react positively to the devs actually caring? Such a novel concept.
The person leading this game made far worse posts than most people here towards the EQ devs as a grown man back in the day.
But there are lots of critically analytical posts here that they completely ignore.
Their lack of interaction here also creates a buildup of people wanting to get their issue heard.
Same! I stay on the ow forums just because of the age difference. There’s quite a few more adults here…which makes sense as blizzard is an older company
I still remember the only discussion I tried to hold there, back when Sym got her 2.0 rework, and no matter how much I wanted to discuss strategies and options, everyone pretty much only repeated the mantra that she was never used in any tournament, and thus was not redeemable in any way. IMO, that was a big reason why r/SymmetraMains were the most active main subreddit from Overwatch.
r/COW is decent if you want to speak about OWL like you speak about sports in your local pub, but all balance discussions are steered in a certain way, and if you don’t behave, you get mocked and/or downvoted to infinity.
I find reddit to be more toxic, they bully you a lot more, because they can use alternate accs, they might even insult you. so i would lookout.
R/COW is actually really good about discussing whatever the current balance situation is. It’s just bad for suggesting ideas that change the status quo substantially.
No, it’s not. It’s not that they aren’t seeing your posts. It’s that the forums are so overdramatic and hyperbolic that they make the average Redditor look mature. So going there and making crybaby forum-style posts about Dva isn’t going to help anything.
