Former OW producer on one Bobby K

Honestly if you want to blame one person for the downgrade to OW2 from OW1, it’s Bobby K baby. God if Microsoft keeps this guy in place I will riot. It’s already sickening he will likely get a massive payout when the deal goes through anyways.

You killed my favorite game of the past 7 years Bobby. Please just take your money and gtfo.

It’s all of them. Kaplan, Keller, Neuss, Kotick. Go down the list.

They’re either inconpetent, stupid, dishonest, or a combination.

It’s not his fault and it’s not any singular individual persons fault that they couldn’t deliver on their original vision…

It was simply too ambitious to begin with…

Personally I can’t throw Kaplan in there, because I feel that he left due to Bobby swooping in to take all the control, and suck out the all passion and creativity. At least I think that was a major reason.

I don’t know why he left but he decided to turn the game off and let it die which wasn’t going to be worth it by the end of 2021, let alone where we’re at now.

Hard disagree.

Bobby K is the closest thing we have to being the most at fault in my opinion. It all filters up to him.

He was the one who saved Activision from going bankrupt back in the 80s…

MBA administrators are some of the worst people to have in charge of stuff.

They make a bunch of promises, take all the money, leave everyone else with the blame when it fails.

I find it a bit ironic that the IP behind him (Skylanders) was probably one of the more financially successful IPs made under Activision, and yet, it was that monetary decision that also made the game unsustainable once the toys-to-life trend died down.

Also, it really is true: Mr. Kotick does not have a genuine presence in any of his photos; from the eyes to the smile, it just reads as “hollow,” there’s no joy nor passion behind that expression.

Good for him. His company culture ended up with a dead woman but he saved a company 40 years ago poggers.

No, it wasn’t his call to turn the game off. That was Bobby K. and Activision… they wanted OW1 gone so they could add in monetization and give us this pile known as OW2. It’s not like Kaplan just wanted to stop working on OW1. That order came down from the top… they used PVE to justify OW2, then pulled that rug out and scrapped PVE. So in the end, OW2 is nothing but a downgrade from OW1 and a monetization update. And make no mistake that came from the top, not from Jeff K.

kotick shouldn’t be anywhere outside of a prison cell and it sickens me the only consequences he faces is a golden parachute on his way to retirement

It’s why I am beyond disapointed the microsoft buyout ain’t coming with it we had slim chance kotick would be tossed out on his ask but that is not happening now and the pve/game as a whole paid for it.

Yes, it was.

Kotick didn’t conceptualize a large scale pve game that should have been developed by a separate team, and he didn’t suggest turning off the game to make it. That was all Kaplan.

Kotick is both evil and stupid and has done his damage but Kaplan isn’t innocent. His vision for OW2 was bad from the start.

“Hey guys we’ve been supporting this game for 3 years and it’s still making a solid amount of money. Hear me out, though, what if we stopped it dead in its tracks to make a sequel no one is asking for? How cool would that be? That’ll make money which is my #1 goal.”

The Microsoft deal will go through. The question is just whether or not they keep Kotick on. If they keep him on staff, Microsoft is already off on the wrong foot.

Kotick has definitely been a massive problem, but Jeff was the one all about PvE.

Yeah, and who do you think scrapped that 1.5 years ago to focus on monetization? Bobby K and Activision leadership.

Overwatch would have no players if we were sitting here to this day with no content.

His idea wasn’t working and didn’t work, and he let it die.
