Forced Losing Streaks are Real

Sorry, but through my own experience, I can say that forced loss streaks are real. I have been taking notes on my SR per game, and noticed this.
Here is a sample from the first week:

3/3/2018

2466 --> 2482 healer : 16+
2482 --> 2457 dps : 25-
2457 --> 2433 healer : 24-

2455 --> 2429 healer : 26-
2429 --> 2452 dps : 23+

Total Net Gain: -105

And here is a sample from the second week:

3/14/2018

2322 --> 2347 healer: 25+
2347 --> 2326 healer/tank: 21-

Total Net Gain: +257

And just after getting to Platinum, here is a sample from the third week:

3/18/2018

2454 --> 2575 healer: 21+
2575 --> 2548 dps: 27-
2548 --> 2570 healer: 22+

2593 --> 2567 healer: 26- [No team coordination]
2567 --> 2541 tank: 26- [No team coordination]
2541 --> 2513 healer: 28- [Thrower on team]

2534 --> 2510 tank: 24- [No team coordination]

Day Net Gain: -44

3/21/2018

2510 --> 2483 tank: 27- [Leaver on team]
2483 --> 2462 healer: 21-
2462 --> 2440 dps: 22- [Leaver on team]

Day Net Gain: -70

Total Net Gain: -114

In the first week, I was losing more than I was winning.
When suddenly, I get a full week of amazing wins and amazing teammates. No complaints at all.

Then, out of the blue, this past week, after just getting to Platinum, I get throwers and leavers almost every other game. Not only that, but a serious lack of team coordination.

Also, notice how when there is a thrower or leaver, I lose MORE SR than I usually would for a regular loss. Why should I lose MORE? Why should I lose any at all?

But that’s not the point of this topic. I would understand this situation if, throughout my notes, I had throwers every five games. That would be understandable. But after amazing games with great and nice people, I get a flood of throwers and leavers? This couldn’t be more obvious.

Please, remove this loss streak system.

Also, if you have any ideas to change competitive with, please contribute to my post, “Contribute to Ideas!”. I’m hoping to make a large thread that will catch Blizzard’s attention and provide them with possible changes to help us players actually enjoy the game.

What about forced winning streaks? For example, the other team has a bad player or players 10 times in a row…

The streaks and fluctuations you show are entirely within the realm of what would be produced by a matchmaker that is not rigged.

Win probability changes slowly with rank because there are so many random factors in each individual match. Unfortunately, it follows from this that frequent and long streaks will occur, and a player’s rank will oscillate widely. Essentially, a player will tend to bounce between the range of where he is nearly guaranteed to win and where he is nearly guaranteed to lose. The range varies from player to player, but +/- 250 SR/MMR is common and +/- 500 is possible. This problem can be analyzed in depth, mathematically: https://us.battle.net/forums/en/overwatch/topic/20759379305.

There are no forced streaks, stop being paranoid.

Where in the list does it show that the streaks are forced. You fluctuated up and down which is normal and ended up with a net gain overall.

Someone once tried to do something similar to this to prove that the system was rigged. They however provides video footage of their games instead. It became ridiculously obvious that the player was playing at the level they were at (low silver) because they made countless mistakes and largely ignored their teams positioning. When people pointed out that they were stuck where they were because that was how they were performing they got upset and gave every excuse under the sun. The main one though is that they said they were actually a Platinum player but they were just that low because they were practicing characters they were not that good at. Those just happened to be the characters they played in those games.

Literally they just ended up providing evidence to the contrary of the point they were trying to make. They just could not see that they were not climbing because they were performing at the level to which they resided.

In the end anyone can think the system is holding them back and never really improve because they have placed an artificial barrier in front of them. If you focus on getting better you will climb. I was rank 24 in season 1 which was very low and now I’ve been consistantly mid gold. I got up there by trying to improve my own play and not by wishing everyone else at my low level would play better. I proved to myself that I can climb and the system was not rigged to hold me down.

hahahahahaha just lost my 10th game in row after winning 150+ SR, lost it all now, ofc. Legit one or more game throwers every game. Legit throwers, and these constant stacks…god give us a solo que already. Can not handel when you end up having 3 trolls/throwers on your team coz they are a stack, like c’mon. One is worse enough, but nope we gonna force stack down your throats so here you go a full stack of throwers, enjoy.

EDIT; Make that 11 games in row, 11 losses with legit stacks of throwers on every singel one of them. God if its not a support main that thinks he/she can dps all of sudden or a support that refuses to actually heal its some guy that randomly goes doomfist or whatever hero they suck at, god make it stop FIX THIS STUPID GAME NO OTHER GAME IS THIS STUPID FOR A REASON!

Kennysux:

That is also bad. I should’ve just named the title: “Forced Streaks are Real”.

Kaawumba:

But these losses are not regular. Through all of the posts I have looked through of people complaining about losing, they are never complaining about regular losses. Where the other team just manages to win and the game was fun. Where both teams say “good game, great fights”. These multiple thrower games in a row are quite obviously forced.

TimeMuffin:

Thanks for your copypasta from Jeff Kaplan.

Pokadotdurr:

I’m completely confident I am better than the rank I’m in. Every few games, I have people asking me what my main account is and telling me to stop smurfing in lower ranks. I’m not smurfing. This is my first account. But I haven’t stopped myself from improving. I can tell I’m improving. But the problem is that I will not be as good as a Top 500 player for a long time, and that’s really what it takes to carry a match by yourself. Anyone who says you can carry a gold match if you belong in Platinum or even Diamond is ridiculous.

My fluctuation up and down, if I was truly in the rank I deserved to be in, should be game by game. Win, loss, win, loss, and so on until I improved. Not win, win, win, win, win, win, followed by thrower after thrower after leaver…

Pay attention to your average of your fluctuations. Especially between seasons. You may find that that number has been going up.

I was getting frustrated with my rank moving up and down all the time but when I looked back at all of the seasons I noticed that average rank was actually increasing each season. It was then that I realized I was actually climbing without realizing it.

That may be true, and that’s great. But I think a lot of people miss out on one big factor:

Time.

Nobody wants to take season after season to climb to the next rank that they knew they could already be at. Not only is it a waste of time to be constantly put in games with leavers and throwers, but the SR loss afterwards is completely demoralizing.

I know my true rank is about Diamond level. I was placed there my first placements. I did great there and had fun. But now I am about the drop back into gold AGAIN after getting an onslaught of leavers and throwers. Even if I am slowly climbing, it’s a waste of time for me to not be at a rank where I am practicing against players of equal skill and getting better (even faster than I would in lower ranks) there.

This is guaranteed done purposefully by Blizzard. Why wouldn’t they? Make a player stuck below their true potential, and waste their time. They will eventually cave in and get a “smurf” account, just as it’s so popular to do in this game these days. Blizzard’s true form of income is this sneaky system that slowly coxes you into buying another account to reset your SR. Sure, cosmetics can be bought, but I’m sure that they realized that loot boxes will eventually reward the patient player with the cosmetic that they want. Anyone who thinks that a gaming company would never do something like this is lying to themselves.

Yup, honestly can not wait for whenever the real truth in regards to Overwatchs MM leaks. The backlash, it is gonna be amazing.

I feel your pain is not fun being on a losing streak, but after 1 or 2 lost take a break not even worth risking even more SR start fresh again tomorrow good luck!

Check out my third week up in the original post. Three terrible games in a row and a negative SR gain that day. I took a break for THREE days. I thought that maybe that would set me off well, but was immediately greeted by more throwers and leavers. I know that the losing streak will eventually end and it will turn into a win streak, but that will just turn into another reason-less loss streak.

Most of them are 100% DPS throwers and healers who do DPS like moira and not heal at all drive me insane.

Do you notice that they happen in a row? Like the games are going well, and then all of the sudden, each game after that has a tilted-player/leaver/thrower? Because this is the observation I have made time and time again. It’s painfully obvious that it’s forced to be matched up with people like this one after another after having great wins.

My highest losing streak before was like 7 or 8 but my far winning streak was like 14 during last season was winning, so much now season 9 win, lose, win, lose over and over due to throwers are my most reason why am done doing solo Competitive.

Right. The worst part is that you lose MORE for losing games with leavers/throwers than you do when you do regular. The ONLY reason that this would make sense, is to force players back down to continuously have them on the grind to rank up. If throwers/leavers made the game reduce the amount of SR you lost, I am sure that a lot of people would be in different ranks.

Funny how the poster-child of Overwatch (Stylosa) has even quit Overwatch due to the terrible matchmaking, and yet there are still people who believe that the system is without fault. It’s ridiculous.

Yesterday started fresh lost 2 games in a row due to 1 trick throwers mostly Torb and Widowmaker the same person got him twice had to report him was driving me insane.

He didn’t switch at all the system very broken having to be pair up with the same throwers twice come on why do this to me…

Blizzard will never get rid of “toxic players” and we will all still deal with them, but their timing does seem a little too predictable…

1 Like

It’s not the toxic most matches are fun, and joy if you work as a team, but here comes the throwers that cause players to become toxic in the first place, and the game rank system itself it put players to stress and frustrated it can’t be helped period.

Something about this definitely needs to be fixed.
