Forced 2-2-2 in practice is horrible

I have to be blunt, this was an atrocious idea. Especially for QP.

I’ve had matches of all DPS that went smoother! If anything, this will only encourage more Orisa + Bastion comps. Normally, If I go tank and I see a Bastion, I go Sombra, Hanzo or Mei to counter. Now? I have a giant middle finger to the face with the Blizzard logo on it.

Flex players swapping to counter need not apply. What game is this again?

They should keep it in competitive if people are that desperate to win. It’s pretty stupid that you are being forced to play the same team comp every game. Especially QP where no one wants to play tank.

But hey shooting at an Orisa shield all game sounds more fun

They will have quick play classic in the arcade mode.

True, as a flex player I can’t help but feel sad about the change but I think the game needed a change like this.

Problem with having “quickplay classic” in the arcade is that it splits queue times even more. If anything, they should have a server-wide vote at the start of a QP game on whether or not the server even wants 2-2-2. Majority wins and both sides can be catered to.

Don’t want 2-2-2? Vote no.
Want roles enforced? Vote yes.

Nope, incorrect, it’s great.

My 40 games on the ptr so far have proven to me personally (as someone who opposed 2-2-2) that 2-2-2 is totally way better for the game. I can fill for any role and get fast queues, but if I really really want to play DPS and have a decent comp, I can actively choose to do that

I’m more in favor of a priority queue.

Basically, when you queue in, you can queue in for just one role, or you can queue in for all three roles, and place them in order of preference. For instance, if you’re a tank main but have a few DPS you can pull out as well, you can queue in this order:

  1. Tank
  2. DPS

And the matchmaking will try to get you in those roles. For every game where you don’t get your first pick, that role will be placed on a higher priority by +1. And for every game you get as your role, it will be placed lower by -1. And so when deciding who gets preferred for which role, it just compares which players has which roles as the highest priorities and compares them that way.

Or, they could just have a suggested 2/2/2 where it does try to get 2 DPS with 2 tanks and 2 supports, but the other roles aren’t locked to you so you don’t have to go 2/2/2. You can do 3 DPS or triple tank, or any other comp you’d like, but you also have the option of going 2/2/2 since everyone has their preferred roles. This would also prevent games where you have 5 DPS mains on one team or 5 support mains, etc.

I just don’t like the idea of having two roles completely blocked off to me. There are some instances where it’s good for the game, yes, but for me there are more instances where having access to the full roster is better.

This new system will expose so-called flex players that are not really flex players , and most their hero pools look something like this.(or similar).
Mercy, Rein, Symettra.

In their minds they are flex gods , when in fact their hero pool is very very limited. These kinds of “flex” players will get a rude awakening.

No you haven’t.

You had games where someone was hard carrying that win.

Either it was you, you were riding the coattails of someone on your team, or the other team was far worse at cooperating than your misfit group.

In 2 days of PTR testing, I have yet to have a single game on PTR where the game is not fun for me.

In 2 days of comparing live to PTR, I have yet to have a single game on live where the game is fun for me.

Role queue cannot come fast enough.

Yes, having a Brig not healing and being unable to go heals to keep your team alive is “great”.

Frankly QP was where it was more needed than in Comp. It was far more prone to people just picking whichever old hero and not even trying to make some semblance of a decent comp.

No one is expecting it to solve everything, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction to create a generally healthier experience in Overwatch. QP Classic will be in Arcade if you want to play that.

You don’t need an expansive pool of heroes, the fact that they can play a healer and a tank is enough to be flexible. Although it helps if you can play an off-role as well just in case you have a ‘main’ player in those positions. But that’s still like 3-4 characters at most.

If your Brig is not healing after the update you have bigger problems and switching is not going to do anything.

I cannot wait till its really in the game!
I solo heal 99.9% of my games
In both qp and comp and sick of it

Ashe, Widow, Hanzo and Mccree, as i call them the “great 4” (at least thats what those players think)
I wont miss u guys a single bit in my games

I can now finally play support instead of being a babysitter!!..

It’s crazy to me that just because they change its name to classic and put it under arcade section, people just think it’s gone. Bro literally click arcade and click QuickPay classic and you will play the exact same mode as you used to.

Good lord, do these anti 2/2/2 people ever give it a rest? Blizz isn’t going to see the same handful of people nonstop posting about it and go “well darn guess we gotta scrap it” and just delete everything. It has to hit QP too. It’s where the majority of players play and the game is going to be balanced around 2/2/2 so they can’t just do it for comp and leave QP and unbalanced mess.

It is a little rude to say and I won’t list names but I find it funny how I see some people make the argument how QP is supposed to be quick and they don’t want to or have the time to wait for matches inbetween their busy lives and work schedule, yet I see them post all hours of the day.

most players who claim to be these big flex impact gamers don’t have the stats, SR (well under 3k) or win rate to back up the claim…
Plus the bulk of so call counters was just to +1 more DPS into a team anyways. Leaving large gaps in other areas.

people also keep over looking that per role SR and role queue side of the 222 system on the way. Those bonus effects from move to a 222 system are going to pay off huge over time.
Most of the complains about 222 still act like it’s a race to lock in what you want and not 6 players in roles they wanted, all play against 6 other in roles they wanted. All of the players having earned their SR in that role.

it’s night and day different from the randomness in the current game. It’s not going to solve everything or deal with throwers or one tricks etc but it’s going to clean up a lot of the rough edges.

You don’t have to be able to play the entire roster to be considered a flex player.

I play mainly Support but I can also play as a few DPS characters. As for Tank — that role isn’t for me and I admit it.

But that’s really all I need to be a flex player.
