It doesn’t stop you from moving.
It doesn’t stop you from shooting.
It doesn’t leave you defenseless.
It doesn’t have the core things that a “CC” ability has.
It’s not the most oppressive thing in the game. Especially with how many bugs it has, anyone who calls hack “the most Oppressive CC” is just simply wrong.
Mei has more oppressive CC. She can slow and stun people just by shooting them. Plenty of other forms of CC are much more “Oppressive.”
I agree. Sombra’s gun is so weak that a hacked Genji/Tracer/Soldier/Reaper/McCree/Zenyatta/etc. has just as much of a chance of killing the Sombra as the Sombra does of killing them.
All Sombra has is a gun. Hack puts you on the same level as her.
A good Pharah shouldn’t constantly be flying around in the open anyway. She should be playing corners and on walls and minimizing LOS with the enemy whilst maximizing her splash damage capabilities.
It disables abilities. If pharah is that close to the ground or gets hacked while being that high in the air, she deserves to come down because she just got outplayed or made huge mistakes.
Much conversation. Love the discussion involved in this.
The only thing the enemy has to do against sombra is put any kind of skilled pressure on her and she isn’t a threat at all. She’s only good for her hacking, but that’s in the trash right now sooooooooo.
Then you got outplayed.
Hacked lucio can still shoot. He can still move. You can still do everything you would normally be able to do except wall ride, heal, and boop. You’re not defenseless when you’re hacked. You’re more vulnerable, but that can be solved by positioning as well as targeting the Sombra to force her to retreat.
It’s funny, Sombra mains will complain that a single Dva bullet makes one of their main abilities useless, but if Sombra hacks someone and takes away their main abilities it’s juuuuust fiiiine! You can still shoot broski!
Sombra’s only way to do damage is through her SMG. Almost the entire rest of the roster has more ways to do damage. And when half of your kit is canceled by 1 point (or less) of damage, even if it wasn’t meant for you, that’s still not very good for Sombra. She’s already clunky and full of bugs.
Who didn’t do damage to her? Who let her hack you? Who let her get close enough to hack you? Who didn’t move out of the way of the translocator? Who didn’t use team mates? Who was out of position?
All of these things are effective counters to Sombra. You’re ignoring them.
Would you say she’s 100% dead? Would you say you can potentially fight off the Sombra? Would you say that being hacked is the equivalent of taking your hands off the controls?
That’s what everyone is playing it out as when it’s 100% not the case.
Don’t underestimate Mercy’s pea shooter. You can chase a Sombra off if you land those shots. I rarely feel threatened by a lone Sombra trying to hack me. The danger comes from her teams ability to follow up.
The difference between hard CC’s like Stuns and Freezes compared to Hack is that they don’t last 6 seconds. The longest hard-CC in the game (earth shatter) doesn’t even last half of that.
That’s why people think Hack is oppressive. Sure you can still shoot and move (not that that’s going to do a hell of a lot for you as a Reinhardt or Lucio), but it doesn’t change the fact that unless you’re playing a rooty tooty point and shooty hero, being hacked feels pretty damn awful.
Personally I’d much rather Hack have a far shorter duration and move that power into her weapon to make her a DPS with a little bit of utility rather than a utility hero with a little bit of DPS.
As pharah you have to predict when she’s teleporting, and it’s like a second behind where her tele that you can see is. If you fail at predicting or miss your shot, you get hacked.
??? You can’t destroy translocator so she did.
Sorry I’ll just move 20 meters in 1 second, if you are in the air or near a skybox rip you.
What am I supposed to do in less than a second “Yo everybody shoots where this translocator flying through the air is, so I don’t get hacked”
She can teleport, do you want me to be behind walls whenever sombra starts to exist?
Depends on what hero you look at.
Ability heavy heroes like Pharah and Lucio get shut down hard by it, and so do heroes that can’t avoid it as easily as someone like Tracer ex. Reinhardt is a perfect example.
