For the first time I feel completely useless in game

I guess I was lucky to have a run this long with the characters I enjoy being relevant and good. This is not an angry post and I suspect I’ll just take a bit of a break as I sometimes do until the balance swings but I would welcome any advice for playing in the current patch based on my play preferences as below. Mid Diamond to low masters level.

Tank
I enjoy playing Dva by far the most out of tanks. I just feel I get completely bodied by Zarya now. My main issue is the map pool. Some maps you can use high ground and play really well to over come the bad match ups. So many maps just have no options though. Flashpoint is particularly awful with large open spaces and minimal positioning options. An initial crushing loss to a counter then often completely snowballs the map. I often winston into Zarya but recently I’m finding that I get up against a lot of Zarya + reaper / bastion and I have no idea what tank to pick. Any advice would actually be appreciated there.

I really wish they would buff and nerf tanks in a way that wasn’t so incredibly polarising in a role that already has massive counter pick issues.

DPS
I favor heroes like Ashe / Cassidy (I like single shot shooting) but feel I am getting completely bodied by mercy boosted hanzos, double snipers (I often play with friends who don’t play snipers and find it hard to compete against 2 snipers at once) or very good genjis. I’m vaguely interested in echo, genji and tracer but have thousands of hours of muscle memory playing with a very low mouse sensitivity.

I have 600 hours on Ana and 200 hours on Kiriko. Even if you don’t get completely destroyed by Dive it simply does not feel worth playing Ana at the moment. Its a lot of work and risk for minimal pay off. Kiriko is fine but you feel like you are just contributing but not playmaking right now. I don’t feel that me being there on kiriko and playing well will really contribute much to winning the game. If I’m being honest my team would be better off with someone playing a more meta support.

I played Ashe the other day, because I too like single shot characters, and she was really bad to play. Her damage drop off is so severe that it’s impossible to out duel most characters at range, which is interesting since she’s a “sniper” herself.

Hitscan and splash damage rule the game right now, and Genji, because something like dash is impossible to balance and will always dominate.

I find the same. Most commonly, the opposing team will have a dive tank +/- a dive DPS or support, which won’t let me focus on opposing snipers to begin with. I will get bodied by Hanzo (normally with mercy), widow if it’s a map that will allow her to be played or sojourns railgun. Zen is also a massive threat again due to out ranging.

Because genji can land his shots so much more easily now it feels impossible to beat him because he can just deflect and wait for a second dash to finish you off.

Surprised to hear this, because for me, Dva is some kind of unkillable foe that I just avoid because I thought she basically is invulnerable. I am too bad at video games to beat her so I just run away and run down the clock and hope for a non-Dva game next time.

Full charged zarya outranges and can kill Dva from full in roughly 4 seconds :expressionless:

sorry you feel this way, but hey look on the bright side…you are just now feeling this…ive felt useless in this game since…day 1 lol
