For every 5 wins as a tank, I deserve one priority DPS queue slot

Title. If I do my part to get the queue moving as a tank (and actually winning), I feel I’ve earned the right to get a quicker DPS queue.

They never should have started giving out participation trophies. It made a generation of entitled “I DESERVE”…

Do you?

If you can somehow bypass reality and the MMR system, then yeah.
Otherwise…PRIORITY DPS QUEUE SLOTS ARE A MYTH.

I like this take on the priority queue idea. At least it addresses the issue of people picking tank and feeding on hog and losing to skip queues.

I still think the core issue is that tanks just really aren’t that fun to play. (for most people, I know some people LOVE tanking). I really think that needs to be addressed in as many ways as possible before trying to artificially inflate the queue. Some examples would be ‘reducing the amount of cc’, ‘increasing mobility of tanks’, ‘increasing the damage output while also increasing the aim requirement for tanks’. Essentially try to make tanks more dps like, while still having their tanky nature should make some people who would prefer dps enjoy playing tank more.

Son, you are mistaken. I am a Gen-Xer. I didn’t even get a trophy when I won, because “Knowing you won is reward enough.”

And yet, your here saying you DESERVE special treatment for playing the role you chose… No. No you don’t.

I’m saying that if I take action to make the queue quicker for the people currently in the DPS queue, that I should be entitled to part of the fruit of that labor. I worked for it, I earned it, and I’m only asking for a fraction of my effort as a reward.

Yes, if I worked hard to contribute, then I DESERVE a reward. Do you disagree with that?

Your argument is insane. Its like you choose to help an old woman across a road, and then demand a $5 dollar reward for it. You used entitled, and deserve in your argument, that in itself should tell you you are wrong. Your playing a character in a game, (that you chose) you deserve nothing more anybody else. You sound like the type in game that threatens to throw if everybody doesn’t do things how you want, when you want.

I like playing tanks, but not all the time, and honestly if the queue times were even across all roles, I wouldn’t choose tank nearly as often as I currently do (unless I only had one SR rating across all three roles, but that’s crazy).

If no one queues as tank, then the queue doesn’t move. If I want to play DPS, the only way to reduce the queue time to a reasonable level is for other people to queue as tank. So I can either help other people get shorter DPS queue times, or I can wait in a longer DPS queue. Those are my only two choices (support role aside). I don’t understand why I can’t make my own DPS queue shorter by building up “tank karma” or something. I guarantee this system would shorten queue times across the board, and improve tank quality.

I agree. It would help alleviate queue times. There should be a limit to how many priority queue skips you can have though.

Hey, if the priority queue limit were 1, I’d be fine with that. Just let me have one priority DPS queue slot for every 5 tank wins. I would LOVE that. It would let me take a break from tanking without wasting a ton of time in queue.

I think other games have implemented a system like this in their role queues to success.

Too bad you flip out and lose your entire mind over a perfectly valid and accurate usage of the word “deserve.” Must be a tough life full of existential horror.

If you genuinely earned it, then you genuinely deserve it.

People who do more, deserve more.

He is not doing more then the other 2 roles… I see very often that its a quicker q for support then even tank. Its 1 of 3 roles, stop acting like your doing a public service, or a job. Your playing who you want, then demanding special treatment.

Playing 5 tank games for 1 dps match is more than playing 1 dps game for 1 dps match. It also provides a service to the playerbase by lowering queue times for everyone.

That’s why some other games that have priority queues reward people for playing less popular roles seriously.

Edit

And since his system is based on wins, it’d be more like playing on average 10 tank games for 1 dps match vs 1 dps game for 1 dps match. So yeah, he’d be doing more.
