I finally swapped buttons. Melee is now square (on PS controller) I had to swap reload to the right directional button. Best part is I’m not fumbling my shots with a random melee attack anymore. My first OW life hack, yay.
Wanna know a real ‘hack’? Playing on PC with keyboard and mouse.
Note on mele on pc: switch mele default key V to the foward button on your mouse.
And if you use crouch a lot, bind that on the back button.
People still play on controller? Lol?? That’s so retro.
This is my set-up as well… forward thumb for quick melee, back thumb for crouch, and 3rd thumb button for ping (if you have it available). Having a good gaming ergo wireless mouse also helps a lot.
So you play widow FFA and on controller.
Lmao. You are soldier.
How is it in controller. Playing all these years on pc. I tried controller once in cod. It was just too difficult to make that adjustment.
Clearly the solution to the OP is just buying a PC
I’ve done this exact same thing years ago XD
There was a video about a guy demo’ing a new game of his at a convention… he had a keyboard and a controller out so people could use which ever they wanted.
He said he’d never felt so old, because so many of the younger kids completely ignored both the controller and the keyboard, and would walk up and start touching/tapping the monitor, and then look at him confused like “wat do?”
There are a few good tweaks to make for the controller for particular characters. The ones that are on my radar are:
- Swap RT and LT for Moira to match her hands. This may just be my own personal issue, but it annoyed the heck out of me that she would use her right hand when I used the left trigger. Keep in mind that this will also flow through to her orb controls (shoulder button to bring up orbs, then hit the trigger corresponding with heal or damage, as desired).
- Swap reload on Mercy with change to gun. You don’t generally need to reload when playing Mercy (she auto reloads while on the staff), but you want to be able to switch to the gun quickly.
- Swap Lucio’s jump to one of the shoulder or trigger buttons so you can hold down and wall ride without holding a face button. Pharah has this in her default configuration. I haven’t found a set-up I like for Echo, but I also only play her in MH, so not a priority for me.
When I was on controller I used my analog stick for melee. Quicker time to react when you need to melee, instead of having to move my thumb over whenever I needed to.
On pc I just have it on my side mouse button.
Def have used this for years but, maybe an issue with myself, but my bumper usually doesn’t last a year before it stops working. Wish I could get used to the trigger (L2/LT) rather than bumper (L1/LB)
My current Mercy control scheme is a huge mess, and I really should change it, but I have so much muscle memory invested in my current mess that it’s too hard.
It’s not too bad. Sometimes I feel like the game moves too fast for me.
Mostly, I don’t know any better. I’ve never played OW on PC.
So you are probably the best person to give feedback on the 5v5 and 6v6 posts.
Why don’t ever chime in there ?
Blizzard is working towards balancing for your guys on console.
I’d probably prefer 6v6 over what we have now. Thing is, I doubt bliz will ever bring it back.
2 tanks would certainly take pressure off the tank, and 6 players instead of 5 means more to carry the load.
I put quick melee on the extra sniper button my mouse has below the two normal thumb buttons, works best for me
I couldn’t directly bind my sniper button to anything, are you rebinding using external software?
Corsair ICUE. Just make it match my tild key then put melee on that.
My experience is that controller excels in movement. I find myself doing very well when I play Lucio with controller compared to K&M.
But when I play heroes like Bap that needs precise aiming, K&M is my go-to.
Each control method has their pros and cons.
