Flexing should be 33% chance per role

…but it’s about a 90% for support in reality :frowning:

Blizzard! Please fix this! Feels like you penalize/force people into this role with your 3/daily flex goal…

I’m tired of flexing and getting only support. At least make the role fun to play!

You’ve completely misunderstood what “flex” role is. “Flexing” literally means filling whatever roll isn’t being played. The term originated before role queue was a thing: if you joined a game and you wanted to play DPS but nobody would play tank/support, you would “flex” to that role.

Flex queue has nothing to do with randomization.

They’re implying the roles should be equal, not that flex should literally be coded at 33 33 33.

Perhaps I presented my arguement poorly. However, the point I’m trying to make is that if all roles were properly balanced, impactful and appealing then there would be an even split amongst the player base thereby providing for an approximation of the probability I previously stated…

My experiences demonstrate a significant lack of player interest in the support role though…

Eh, I’m probably wasting my time on here. Blizzard knows there’s a problem, and the best they can do is attempt to entice people with flex XP. :frowning:

Does Blizzard even read these?

I think that since they rebranded the queue as “All Roles” it’s no longer reflecting its name.

What the option is actually doing is “whatever role would get you into a game the fastest”. Which is just placing everyone as support more often than not.

When the game first came out the roles were equal on flex because the tanks and dps were getting disconnected mid match lol

Ohh, I understand your point now and agree.

Don’t call it flex. It’s the fill queue lol.

The reason why no one is playing supports is because it feels like playing Quarterback in Football with no offensive-line to protect you. You are spending the whole play running an scrambling from being sacked. Meanwhile your team is screaming to throw them the ball as they run 40 yards down field.

Blizzard obviously didn’t think of the ecosystem when they removed a tank and buffed DPS Damage. Supports have now lost a defender and the DPS attacking them are doing absurd amounts off damage. All this and not a single buff to Support survivability, and NO the 5 seconds out of combat heal does not count.

They fixed tanking by finally finding a way to make it fun but in the process they put support in the situation that tanks were in ow1.

In OW1 flex was tank only, in OW2 it is support only, Flex means you get to play the least fun role.

Wow, that’s a perfect… I forget the word… Illustration of the issue? What’s it called when you tell a story that parallels reality? Anyway, hopefully someone at blizzard will read that and they’ll “get it.”

100% agreed.

I dunno what the fix is… Justing making stuff up, but… why not double healer HP [shield? Armor?] and healing output, drop to one healer and replace that slot with a DPS slot? Oh, and give Mercy thorns where 25% of damage delt to her is reflected. She desperately needs “something”.

I played flex in OW1 and would get tank and support about 50/50. Which is why I was puzzled when they put all their development time into fixing tanks, while ignoring support and at the same time dropping to 5v5 and expecting a higher percentage of the team to want to play support. It’s like the devs don’t actually play their own game. The lack of support players is what makes the match balance so wacky, and has already driven away a lot of vet players who value gameplay over wasting money on cosmetics.

Currently on 61 in a row qued for flex, 61 support matches

THIS! I don’t know what’s going on with matchmaking, but I am consistently grouped up with tanks and DPS that I can play better than. Feels like I need to keep everyone alive, share the DPS burden AND avoid being murdered by 5 other players. It’s not fun; it’s a chore, and makes me want to quit the game.

I feel you. :sob:

You have a bunch of players waiting for tank and dps. The MMR range increases with queue times to try to keep them reasonable.

As a support player you get a game straight away as theres very few of us left, but it’s always a game with other players who have been waiting forever. By that point the MMR range is massive as it’s basically just waiting to find 4 support players, any will do. Result is support players get the worst matches, less people play support, queue times increase, MMR range increases to compensate, matches become even worse, players start to leave… You can see where this is going.

Nice mindset just to bypass q time, lol. You really don’t understand what is the role’s popularity, and what is the ACTUAL point of the BUTTON called “flex q” ? It is not made for you, it is made for the matchmaker. You choose flexQ you become an asset for the matchmaker to let it do whatever it wants considering role’s popularity.

Trolls gonna troll…

My intent is not to bypass the queue, but to make a point that there is a clear disparity between the cues and between the roles in popularity. I don’t mind filling in for support 2/3 of the time, but I would like some variety. The fact that I’m not the only one that experiences this issue shows that there’s a clear problem with the game.

Yes they made changes to Tanks because they had to make them stronger since each team only has one. What doesn’t make sense is why then do you buff the damage of the DPS… it just seems counter productive.

The reason why there is no more queue times isnt because Tanking has become more enjoyable but because you have literally halved the demand. For example, if you have 100 players in queue as tanks what used to supply 25 games now supplies 50 games. The formula for support hasnt changed, and its just getting worse because support now has WAYYYYYYYY less survivability and is a lot less fun to play.

100% this!

I like my idea of making solo supports into psuedo-tanks with extra healing ability and adding another DPS slot.

Boom, done, fixed.

Hell there could be cool visual effects, to rationalize this increased toughness, for the armored up single support:

Mercy’s wing wrap around her (I still think she needs a thorns effect)

Moira has a caustic cloud aura that melts/hinders incoming fire

Zen’s balls actually move to blocked incoming fire

Baptiste had mini semitransparent shield walls that look like his damage boost window

Lucio emits soundwaves

Kiriko’s fox spirit floats around her

Brig is already armored, so makes sense to me :joy:

Not sure about Ana…
