Brig only ‘‘broke the game’’ because she pushes the uncomfortable truth about how broken and poorly balanced the dps roster actually is. She gets destroyed by like half a dozen heroes but no one picks them because they arent allowed to be strong, while the heroes that are almost always meta are counterpicked by Brig.

No omegalul, brig was released due to low sr support players claiming that they couldn’t do anything against dive heroes. What they should’ve done was nerf tracer and d.va and leave it at that.
Junkrat, Pharah, Sym, Doomfist and Bastion were my first choices, but Hanzo also can deal with Brig. Brig is more resistant against Ashe and Widow because they dont have has high burst as to get through her barrier.
If we are talking about Brig 1.0, then she wasn’t a joke.
She powercrept the entire DPS roster except for Bastion.
Still, even current Brig isn’t a joke, she is just less applicable when the skill level of the match is lower.

Dive wasnt a thing below Masters/high Diamond, specially at the time of her release. When she was released, it was literally just Tracermaker Dive, and both of those are heroes that were and are only issues on the top end of the ladder.
Brig has been historically one if not the worst hero that has ever been introduced to this game.
Brig opened the way for GOATs, she led to the loads of sustain and damage creep, she has pushed Lucio out of ever becoming meta (one of the healthiest heroes IMO), she is why Monkey is terrible, she is a big reason why Rein is terrible.

Geoff Goodman literally admitted that Brig was a mistake.
I wouldn’t say that Brig as a hero in the game was bad for Overwatch, its just the fact that the developers refused to acknowledge any sort of problem for six months, and just kept beating around the bush for years.
The words of a blizz dev are as reliable and trustworthy as a sand castle.
And majority of the player base and pros agree with them.
