Flashpoint sucks

Whenever it’s picked I just quit the game and take the penalty if needed. It should be pulled from the quickplay rotation.

Flashpoint is great. Whenever its picked I play the match, it should stay.

Flashpoint on paper is fine. However, I rarely enjoy it. The huge map with lots of flank routes and places for teamfights to break out randomly (you know, the thing that should make it good…) seems to just… get people lost. Half my team will be headed to the next point while the other half will be spawncamping the enemy for some reason.

Dealing with flankers is also annoying as hell, because you’re likely to get angled while doing it, and get no help from your team who are distracted by something happening at main, or by duels of their own (or chasing the purple hacker).

And that’s the other thing; main. Despite the size of the map, it still has the problem of those “random” teamfights occurring in predictable places, with a lot of the map going unused.

So, yeah, Flashpoint sucks, but not because the mode itself was a bad idea. It just takes problems with team behavior that exist in other modes, and makes them worse.

Its the map mode type most preferred by higher ranked players over the other map modes for many reasons.

Because they are used to wasting their time.

On console, you can close the game as soon as you see flashpoint won and not take any penalty

You’ll have to sit through the reload but its better than wasting your time on flashpoint

Flashpoint was just a lazily created game mode so they could say they added a game mode.

Hot take - it’s less problematic than people make it out to be and it just makes people play different, but people do not like “different” just like how people do not like “change”.

The mode’s fine in my humble opinion. It’s an attitude problem tbh.

Flashpoint would be fine if matchmaking paired you with people who know how to play, but no, it adds:

  • People who jump off cliffs.
  • People who just wander around the map.
  • Tanks who think they’re gods and go 1v6.
  • DPS with 100 damage who die 40 times.

And this is why I’ll vote for it whenever it’s up.

That’s how I feel about Control maps.

:-1:

You can leave any map before the match starts with 0 penalty without having to close the game.

I prefer a 2 1/2 minute 2cp quick play classic game. quick, fun, that’s it. mogs flashpoint to death.

This happens on every game mode where a human with free will is involved, it’s not exclusive to flashpoint.

Anything but hybrid/cart is best imo.

Hmm, it always warns me there will be a penalty if I try to leave through the menu

After some testing though, yes it seems the warning is false. OK guys I was wrong it seems (that almost never happens)

I’d argue that Flashpoint enables goobers to be extra goobish.

No dedicated point-loss/respawn mechanic means your team’s Hog and Kiri are fighting a 2v5 on an already taken point for a solid 30sec in a losing battle.

Followed by them being late to the 3v5 at the next point. The cycle continues until the red team gets a full team kill (pseudo-resetting spawn times) or the game is over.

I leave every time, no question, I’ll take the suspension.

There are folks who like it. I personally am not a fan of the mode. I feel it should just be put into its own category, then people who want to play that mode exclusively can.

Please devs just give FP & Control their own category so we can stop having to compete with the lazy players looking to farm Kings Row & Eichenwalde everytime they pop up.

I don’t think there’s that many areas of the maps that don’t see fighting in them, it’s pretty much just the spawn room areas that don’t see much action.

That’s not an unusual occurrence either, most maps don’t see a lot of fighting in the spawn areas because it’s usually a bad tactic. The only times maps do see fights happening close to spawn doors is when the spawn is really close to the main choke like on Oasis Garden or Circuit Royale 1st point.

Also maps with changing spawn areas do see more fighting happening near some of those inactive spawn locations, it just depends on how close the area is to the main routes of attack. So yeah, I don’t think flashpoint has any notable issue with space going unused, it’s just easier to see when space isn’t being used because of how much space there is.
