So the flashpoint maps are laid out in a square shape with 1 point on each corner than the first point, point A in the center.
The first point is fine, the walk there from spawn is fine, then it randomly picks one of the four corner points and since it’s in the center, the walk from point A to any other point is fine.
Okay now you’re on the 2nd point. Regardless of what point it chose the walk from the spawnroom is still normal. You finish capturing the point, it chooses the next point. Here is where the problem lies. If it chooses on of the two adjacent corners, then it is a normal walk, but if it chooses the opposite corner, then it is a very long walk, so long in fact that it is actually faster to get killed by the enemy team and respawn then it is to walk there. The spawn room speed boost only helps the people who don’t actually have to walk far
This usually happens once per match, but it can also happen 2 or 0 times. If they just removed a bit of randomness from point selection, it could be entire prevented
- first point is still always point A
- second point is still chosen at random
- the game then randomly picks whether to go clockwise or counter clockwise, and the rest of the points are chosen in that order
Completely removes the walking simulator element of the mode while still having 8 different ways the points can be selected
