Flashpoint Proposal

The major issue on paper is that the spawn points at FIFTY PERCENT further away from stationary objectives than any other map type.

Regrouping takes longer, returning to battle takes longer (lowering combat up-time; the one factor to a fun game), slower heroes are much more likely to get picked off while trying to regroup by extension. All of these factors disproportionately favor faster heroes.

To the point: let’s make Flashpoints best 2-of-3, extend cap duration, and semi-randomize which 3 points are chosen for each instance of the map to further diversify experiences in each match.

I just think that would fix the pacing issues associated with the game mode.

The points are already randomized except the first. And the first is not because it makes the start of the game fair to fight in the middle with spawn rooms the same distance.

They could simply make you spawn at the front of the spawn room to cut 20m off the distance to point and make coming out of spawn faster then it decays the further you go so you get there faster then you do now.

Spawning and seeing the point is 124m away and you spawn 20m inside the spawn room is just beyond stupid. A 3 year-old would realise that and yet here we are still spawning at the back of the spawn room.

While they’re at it they need to update payload/hybrid to start the defenders in attached 2nd spawn and cut 20s off the prepare timer so you can get into your stomp quicker.

Whist I agree technically.

It is good that each mode requires different ways of playing.

Keeps people on their toes, and means any ranking system is a better test of your ability to win matches under different conditions.

That being said, the mode does need a little tweaking. Speed boost out of spawn was a good touch.

So just KotH with more possible points to fight for than the 3?

Like the rest of your team all playing slow heroes. Similar problems to maps that have excessive high-ground like Paraiso. You’re not going to win with a team of slow heroes that can’t get to high-ground on attack or who aren’t poking from afar.

Sure, it means your team should adapt, but in OW a lot of people have a small number of heroes they play and you are going to lose the game because of your team and bad map design giving massive advantage to a few heroes. Not ideal.

You’ll lose because you played it badly. Every comp will work, but some comps are better suited.

The map will never be why you lose. And blaming your teammates will never win you games.

Eh, that’s simply not true. You can win with a bad comp if the other team also has a bad comp or your team are a lot better. But if the teams are equal and you have comp which is bad for the map, it doesn’t matter how much effort you put in, you’re most likely going to lose.

Can you win? Sure, you might, but your individual contribution in a bad situation would have to be completely out of proportion to your skill ranking compared to everyone else (which should be similar).

There’s plenty of ways to solve any given issue.

I appreciate that there’s at least an argument as to why. But there’s always a fun way to balance things, and 120M spawn range isn’t it.

KotH, but without loading between rounds. :joy:

It essentially means that there’s 2-3 point on any given Flashpoint map that won’t be seen. Other matches on the same map could give a new direction, but not in any one match.

I think it’s supposed to encourage different comps than other modes. I like different heroes being stronger on different maps/modes. No issues with fast bois having the advantage for me.

Here’s my proposal:

Remove it and let’s pretend it never happened.

It and Clash, then focus on more maps for the other modes people prefer to play.

I think Clash might be salvageable, I still enjoy Clash matches until they get to the last point and the mess begins. Things get whacky as hell.

They could just get rid of the game mode altogether. The problem with it is that it’s trying to be something that it isn’t (A call of Duty “Hard Point” knock-off). It just doesn’t work. All of their new game modes just devolve into being really bad Walking Simulators that you’re better off just leaving when it comes up.

Yea that’s the issue with them. The main way to win shouldn’t be ignore taking the point so you can fight defensively on the next one.

I just hate what they did with final point…makes sense in comp

In QP though…trying to take entire point is a hassle with the spawn advanatage…I’ve seen a lot of people lately catching on though that you’re probably wasting your time trying to cap that

As for flash…I’m fine with it….if the issue is that some heroes don’t work very well in it….then there really isn’t an issue

The mode is fine, the maps are just a bit shoddy.
