OT: I made a flame based hero concept the other day. I’m hoping we get one eventually. Personally, I’m hoping for a literal flame thrower for a weapon.
As in, it throw fireballs. Specifically, because that would be really funny / fun to play, but also to avoid the play style being too similar to Mei or Pyro from TF2.
I never really got all this hype about a flamethrower. It’s just another weapon geez. Same thing with rail guns people are so obsessed about.
I want to see Torb and Sym have actual cool stuff, considering Torb should be able to make any weapon he chooses and Sym can make anything out of friggin light.
To be fair, I just want the weapon implemented eventually. Some people already have similar weapons, like pistols or rifles, so a new vein of weaponry would be a breath of fresh air.
I bet it would be universally hated. Ashe get a lot of flak for the DOT fire effect she has and that an ability that has a cooldown. A flamethrower as a primary would be called “op” and “no brain”
I’ve got one hero concept I hope to fiddle around with based on selecting Torb when workshop comes to live, the prospector. He lobs mounds of oil slick that slow enemies and speed allies who touch it and can light the oil on fire.
Reminds me of Blaze from HoTs! He was a fun character.
I posted my own idea here a few days ago. I plan to try and make something similar to it with some changes Monday. Here’s my idea
Eh, there’s probably a number of people who wouldn’t like it. I still think DOT effects are something that should be explored more in game. They’re good ways for adding more overall damage without making for obscene amounts of burst that make for little to no chance to fight back.
I think something with a ramping mechanic would make it more fair. A “beam” style weapon similar to Mei or Pyro would feel like a rip on those two, while being easy to apply in close range which isn’t great IMO. I think have ranged projectiles that deal fire based DOTs. Rewarding players for landing multiple hits within a certain time frame perhaps, with initial damage being low but consecutive damage ramping things up?
