Fix your matchmaking instead of giving penalties

If there is one thing I hate about this game, is the complete incompetence to actually fix what is broken, and instead trying to “fix” what is the result of the actual problem. People leave matches because they are getting stomped. Over and over and over. And instead of fixing that, you punish the people who are already having a bad time in the game.

Most quitters leave after the first team fight or their first death
You will not convince me that you know exactly how the match will turn out after 1:30 minutes
And yes these are the overwhelming majority of leavers

Nah, I see a 30 to 2 kill lead and everyone leaves. “Losing the first fight”? should not see such an enormous difference. That is incompetent programming.

Explain to me how you would fix matchmaking while still allowing bronze level players to group with gm level friends and not significantly increasing queue times.

Don’t allow it. That should never be a thing. If you are bronze and have gm friends, tough luck, you should not be placed with each other. Ever.

So friends should never be allowed to play together? Matchmaking in a CASUAL mode is more important?

Tell me why you are in quickplay if your desire is for a tighter ranked mode? Why aren’t you in competitive if your expectations is only fighting your rank?

Friends with different ranks only have quickplay to enjoy the base mode.

You could go to comp.

Friends that are so far apart in skill should not be matched against people that have not the same amount of skill differences. And it clearly is not that teams of equal skill are placed against each other.

You do understand why that isn’t possible right? That your expectations of matchmaking in a casual QUICKPLAY mode are unreasonable?

You are in the wrong mode. Competitive is more suited for tightly matched games.

Its perfectly possible. Just…don’t…allow…it. As I said, tough luck to all the bronzes with gm friends. But it is never a team with bronzes + gm friends. Its teams with only high tier players vs low tier players.

why not both? Fix the matchmaking and penalize those who exploit it.

Good news! They,… do…that… in… competitive!

You are expecting a competitive experience in a mode not designed to offer that.

Much like going to McDonald’s and expecting a five star restaurant experience.

Stop going to McDonald’s if you hate the food there. Go to the venue that offers the service you want.

when its ppl on both teams decide to not play the payload and not play the game , refuse to help win , refuse to heal me but they dance with the enemy team instead . When im simply trying to play the game and they just hold the game hostage and refuse to attack eachother .

These games aren’t even that common tbh I don’t know why people keep acting like it’s back to back games…

My theory is they play bad and lose a bunch of there quick play games so when games like this do happen they can blame it on something.

I expect not to face absolute monster players in a mode that is supposed to be “casual”. The only difference that these modes should differ in is what is at stake, not the amount of difference. If you play amateur tennis, you do not expect to be stomped by a Federer over and over. You expect people of your own skill level. The solution is that “Federer” level players are not allowed against amateurs. In some sports, this is actually implemented, to prevent pro-players from stomping amateurs in amateur tournaments. Why are you defending this atrocious system?

Funny you should mention McDonald’s. With prices going up, you can legitimately get better restaurant food for around the same price or not much more. Where I live, McDonald’s for a couple is more expensive than getting BBQ from a local place.

QP is def McDonald’s, but not because of the analogy. It’s overpriced for the mediocre experience you receive. It thinks it’s comp, but it’s comp from Wish that costs about the same as comp. You have poor matchmaking and now penalties for what many consider a casual mode.

Ironically, for those who liked “McDonald’s” before, they are better off going to the better “restaurant” of comp. You get better “food” and “cost” is now negligible.

Casual doesn’t mean amateur. It means not taking it as seriously.

You aren’t playing a amateur tennis tournament. You are playing in a public pick up game. Where anyone can participate.

It is unreasonable to expect everyone who shows up to this public event to be the same skill level as you. The only expectation is that there will be a game.

Once again, competitive is where you should be if you want to avoid playing serena williams.

It doesn’t think it’s comp/ It literally advertises itself as a quick “bite to eat”. The costs are still significantly different as one requires leaving 20% of your games and only punishes at a max of thirty minutes. Where as the other will not allow you to enter for the entire season after just a few leaves.

Meanwhile quickplay also has a wildly different matchmaking set. Which has largely gone unchanged (with the exception of role queueing and hero limits) since the launch of OW1.

We have all been aware of the differences yet somehow are trying to place the same expectations on a mode designed for quick matches, friends playing who cannot in a competitive setting, and just generally casual feel, that we have for a competitive mode.

Having a soft penalty for leaving 20% of your games does not make it any less casual. It just addresses a problem the mode has had for ages that has been finally acknowledged by the dev’s.

I do not think a public pickup game appreciates it that a Federer comes and ruins the experience over and over. The public would not allow Federer to play with them. Again, why are you defending this atrocious system.

Very true. I haven’t played in a month, but I remembered I would stop queueing for QP after awhile of terrible uneven match making on both sides and have my casual fun in comp lol. Game is far less aggravating when players are closer in skill level.

Do you earnestly think that Serena Williams only plays at tournaments and only against people of her skill level?

People leaving games has always been a problem with Overwatch, going all the way back to Overwatch 1 when it released in 2016.

People have been asking Blizzard to do something about it specifically for years, they finally did with Overwatch 2. It’s about time.

If you’re salty that you can’t ragequit games anymore otherwise you’ll get queue restricted, well tough. You’re part of the problem.
