Fix the matchmaking!

Are u kidding blizzard?
Why do I get so many matches with Bronze 5 Tanks when I am silver 2 DPS???
How I am supposed to have fun at this game?

Just fix this bad matchmaking or I will uninstall very soon!!!

Bronze 5 and Silver 2 are not that far apart. It would be worse if you got a Diamond tank and a Bronze Tank competing against each other. Or in your case, a Gold tank vs Bronze tank. But I do agree the match maker still needs tweaking.

they don’t believe there’s a problem with it, which is crazy, looking at how bad it matches teams

Bronze 5 and Silver 2 are almost 2 full ranks. Getting steamrolled in so many games is not fun and I honestly just want to quit this game at this point. Blizzard is messing it up so badly.

on paper, no

but in game, yes

blizzard’s said they try to match according to skill so you have as close to a 50/50 chance of winning which means that most if/not all games should be very close yet it’s usually a massive difference in skill you either get stomped or destroy the other team. It makes 0 sense.

The match making in this game needs a total revamp

1000 SR apart is normal and happens in all ELOs except Masters / GM.

It’s been normalized by this joke of a matchmaker, but it shouldn’t be

1000 SR is too big of a gap and the fact that it has to be this big of a gap to make matches, even in the most populous of ranks, just speaks volumes about the true player count of the game.

The issue is that tank might not be with-in 1000SR of you… that’s an MMR issues that I was saying needs to be fixed. But 1000 SR a part is normal and you can literally queue with someone with that spread. For all you know, one of your party members queued with him.

Yes and that’s another thing I’ve always taken an issue with. Should have been 500 SR max.

But in OW1 the only times you ever really had a player that was 1k above the lowest SR player in the lobby was when someone grouped with them, and it was relatively rare compared to the absolute chaos that happens in OW2. It’s not uncommon at all to have a mix of four different ranks in the same match in this big fustercluck of a game.

Basically the same rank dude, calm your jets.

man you guys are really flaming this guy who is upset about a nearly 1000 SR diff in his match.

I agree with him, that’s ridiculous.

And I disagree with anyone who thinks that’s basically the same rank… in a 1v1 the 1k higher SR will probably win 70% of the time. If it’s ‘basically the same’ then why isn’t the bronze 5 guy just silver then? why is there even a different rank?

Not even close…

Bronze 5 is literally the bottom of the barrel. If you play with a blindfold on and no sound, you’ll end up here.

Silver 2 is no superstar rank to be sure, but it’s a longer way from Bronze 5 in terms of skill than you might think

That is my point, someone in your lobby might have queued with him.

Yeah tbh whether or not this issue is real or not I think doesn’t matter. Its the perception.

Tell me you guys haven’t seen or heard a “bronze 1-5” with a top 500 icon and a private profile, or “master contender” title in a bronze game. I’m a mid plat player and I’ve faced off against “grand master contender” private profile mercy / soldier duos that absolutely punched our faces in. I asked my team mates (all private profiles) what their SRs were in VC and half of them responded they were gold.

I get there is an MMR system thats “actualy” responsible for the match, and maybe in my case and this dudes case it was totally a fair match. maybe none of us would be here on the forums though if they just friggen showed us that number tho dont you think? I really think half the problem we all have is in the case where we are getting our sh*t pushed in its because profiles are private, we got no idea what your real rank is anyway even if it isn’t because of the vanity rank system we have, and you might actually be a silver player facing top 500 icons / GM titles / Master titles.

its all confusing as hell. that’s the real issue. i bet anything if blizz just had an actually transparent ELO system that wasn’t confusing as hell to understand 90% of these complaints would go away even if they didn’t actually change how you got matched lol.

Maybe.

But it never happened with such frequency in OW1.

It happens so often in OW2 that it can’t possibly always be due to people grouping 1K SR apart.

for the record, im about 90% convinced when they did the vanity rank decay people dropped between 500-1000 SR. If you haven’t grinded nearly 200 games yet it’s possible your ACTUAL rank is as much as 1000 SR from the displayed vanity rank which is adding to the confusion.

That is because people’s ranks are not correct. They lag majorly behind their mmr. They might actually be your skill level with an entirely different ranked. And that is the problem at the moment among other things. But what isn’t a problem is a bronze 5 playing with a silver 2. That has been around since OW1 days. I’ve had masters and Plats all in the same lobby in OW1.

No, it should be same tier only.

yes but mmr they aren’t that far apart they are quick close
