Fix roadhog hook

How many times do people have to tell you to fix his hook?

Hook connects, it says enemy hooked. Hook breaks.

WHY DOES IT BREAK RANDOMLY? FIX IT.

Okay, this is actually a good Hog hook post - almost didn’t click on it since I was thinking it was one of those complaining about it being “too good” or whatever.

And yet I get hooked when they can see only one pixel of the top of my head. That makes sense.

Pharah just activated her ult, I hook her, it connects. Her ult stops. Hook breaks.

If the ult stops, I have hooked her, no? Then she should come to me? NOPE, IT BREAKS.

Was that a one time thing or does that keep happening?

Happens almost every time I’m playing the game that the hook just breaks , even when it stops peoples abilities. Like, I hooked a mercy in a kings row game, stopped her res and then it just broke. She was all “???” in the chat.

I’ve ulted with mccree as well and then get hooked and it stops my ulti but then it just breaks and doesn’t bring me to roadhog.

I’ve had roadhog hook me on rein when I’ve been charging but the charge just stop right where I was when he hooked instead of being brought to him, like, he has hit the hook if it stops my charge, why am I still standing where I was when he hit it?

Weird. You should put the replay codes in the Bugs section of the forum, I’ve seen the devs be relatively active there.

It’s not weird.

It started happening after they changed the hook from its initial version. They made it more sensitive to terrain interference, ping differences and so on. Just 1 pixel and it breaks now, likewise if the clients don’t match up with where you are.

I’d rather have the hooks around corners than the hook just randomly breaking due to terrain or ping stuff.

Yeah… have lost count of the amount of times i have successfully hooked a tracer… and then nope… she blinks or recalls out of it… leaving me with hook on CD and she just burns me down in a nanosecond

Give roadhogs hooks a form of tetanus poison damage

its got massive spikes on it… if you get hooked you should bleed…

a DoT bleeding mechanic would be fine

Are you running behind a wall or falling under something?

Yeah they need to fix the inconsistent broken range of it. How is it that some hooks are longer than others?

If they’re going to fix that, then they need to fix going through bubbles. This is insanely common it’s insane.

Um, dude we are the forums. We’re just other players, we can’t fix bugs. Instead of yelling about it here you should send detailed info to Blizzard.

I’ve legit had my hook break on an AFK Moira out in the open before. It’s definitely buggy both ways.

I was just queuing for a game and just alt + F4’d after I went into a deathmatch while in queue and picked roadhog. Bastion is just sitting around doing emotes and stuff in his sentry mode. I’m below him and do a hello emote, going to hook him down to me. I hook. Hook breaks for some reason. I just alt + F4’d instead of waiting for a game.

Because when Roadhog had a hook that actually showed signs of being constructed of metal, as opposed to the current paper mache hook, you’d get shenanigans of the highest order, including pulling people directly through walls, pulling people through floors from low ground, and in Sombra’s case, landing a hook in the few cast time frames of translocator and pulling her through the void, back to Roadhog.

It’s because they can’t code it to behave like a chain steel hook without having it also enter unintended dimensions.

It has such an ungodly amount of LoS checks that it probably exists almost exclusively in the spaghetti code dimension at this point, and it shows.

I think it has to do with server latency. I rarely encounter hook break with sub 20ms. But when player in servers with around 100ms, about a third of my hooks breaks, even without any walls.
