So ships and lore are the only reason I seem enjoyed by this game anymore, so I have one request… A simple request really.
These new Genji x Mercy voicelines in the new season almost made me stop playing marvel rivals and come back but why the heck did you make Mercy say, “we’re still friends aren’t we?” in one of their lines.
It makes it sound like she friend zoned him in a way… Look, erasing all their chemistry is something none of us want. She literally asked him to take her out to dinner in OW1 and they did cute Valentine’s chocolate stuff. Please, cmon now.

I think people overreact when they claim it’s a friendzone voice line. Like yea, it was probably somewhat unnecessary to use the word “friends” in it, but Genji’s response more than makes up for it:
“Nothing could ever take that from us”
It’s very warm and sweet, I have a hard time thinking that’s just friendly reassurance.
Do agree on the overall sentiment though, you don’t need to force labels on the relationships in the game, Gency is a massively popular ship and they have a fun dynamic. If people want to imagine they’re together, why go against that? (Same thing applies to Pharmercy or other ships in the game)

She didn’t say “let’s just be friends” or anything else indicating that’s all she wants from him. They obviously weren’t currently in a relationship based on the writing, so I’m not sure why this is an issue for anyone. They could always get together in the future.
