Fix client disconnect on replays

Was in a queue with friends and wanted to watch a replay of a potential Hanzo cheating.

Immediately “client disconnected” me the moment I started watching the replay. My friends found a game and I wasn’t in it due to this failure of a game.

The funny thing is this bug has been reported numerous times on the forums.

At least add a warning before letting users watch a replay. ANYTHING is better than nothing.

There are several game breaking bugs right now, you’d think that they would make some of them a priority and make a hotfix…but no.

the worst bug right now is the fact you get no backfills if someone leaves/disconnects. you’re just stuck in a 4v5 for the rest of the match

this kind of stuff is what drives players to play other games

If you know it’s an issue they why do it?

That’s… graphic.

Like they grow like that or we make people into trees?

queueing/getting in a game while watching a replay has caused problems since the game first came out. if you queue and go watch a replay you are just gambling that your PC can survive the quick transition. On my old PC it used to always freeze my game and I had to restart.

I didn’t know this until I experienced it, then looked it up.

Again, no warning, no hint, not a single indication that there’s an issue. They could have added a little warning on the UI that says it could cause a crash. Instead they let you walk into that trap, just like they do with account bans.

Indeed. 2 games ago was a 3v5 and no backfills. Many have reported this over the last 3 days but still no fix. Should be able to fix it as is same problem they had last year.

the stove doesnt tell you its hot, but you know not to touch it

common sense is free

Here’s my counter-argument.

A gas stove will have visible flames which is common sense not to touch.

An electric stove will glow red which warns you not to touch it. There will also be an indicator of the strength.

A conduction stove will not be hot unless a metal touches it, there will also be an indicator of strength.

Overwatch does not prevent nor warn you when looking at replays when queuing (a simple message with a warning icon would suffice). For a person experiencing a crash for the first time, there is no indication that there is a problem with the feature.

What common sense are you talking about exactly?

Oh no you missed out on a match! What is the world coming to?! Devs should be jailed for putting you through such absolute misery and the lasting trauma that you’re feeling from this devastating situation. Do you need anyone to call someone for you?

Brother that is not the point. They can add a warning and prevent this happening unexpectedly in the first place.

Why does the community just want to blame everything on the player? Crash, ban, bad play, frustration? “Your fault”.

This is not the point of the post. They can do simple things that make the game better, they just refuse to do it. And everyone seems okay with it?

Where did I blame you?

But it’s okay, keep making a mountain out of a single grain of sand and stay super mad over nothing

literal common sense man, im not expecting you to solve world hunger, or launch a probe onto a comet, but if you cant figure out that loading in a replay of a game, while waiting in que is a bad idea, then you lack the basic functions.

secondly, the fact that you made a post complaining about getting banned and then blaming the devs for your actions is just weak.

lol clearly not common for everyone. Most, but not everyone.

I used to be able to watch my replays after my games and even while in queue but now I can’t :frowning: and you are right I saw this bug being reported like awhile back and nothing

I’m more baffled that what exactly was changed to the replay section of the game that they managed to break it?

Nothing was added in there, nothing was removed. but somehow with some update they managed to break something in a remote corner of the game - replay viewer.

The bug also extends to saving highlights or potg’s at times as well.

That’s how software dev works. Sometimes a change you make can unintentionally affect other existing features. If you don’t have proper integration test coverage to pick up on this then your customer’s feature breaks till you fix it

Luckily the last night patch has fixed this.
