Not sure how long it has to take for Blizzard to realise that this needs to change. It is not logical to have players play RNG gamemodes to earn these weekly lootboxes.
There is no matchmaking in them either.
It just does not make sense to have a reward based on winning for this. It just doesn’t make sense.
And it has been like this for ages. What is taking them so long?
I agree that the weekly boxes should be for games played, it gets really toxic when you mix in arcade players and people who just want the boxes. Even myself will end up putting in the bare minimum to not be throwing if it’s taking too long to get the boxes.
There is to some degree…I occasionally run into a diamond or master (I play almost exclusively mh) if I’m doing well…most of the time I don’t…I suspect there’s some MMR involved but I couldn’t tell you for sure…it’s not like I instant queue all the time (if there was no mmr you’d expect this)
People just want EZ hand outs, like a reward for participation even if you ended up in last place, “Here is your little trophy to make you feel better kiddo”.
Deathmatch is a gamemode of who gets the most killsteals. I’ve ended up dead last with over 30 assists. The Overwatch heroes are not designed to be played with in Deathmatch FFA. Sure, I could just play that and simply killsteal like everyone else, but where is the fun in that?
Right… Is that why I run in with players that are very low level and in silver, with or aginst hitscan mains that play in Masters and Grand Masters?
You’re completely missing the point. It would be one thing if people were asking for rewards for losing in gamemodes like Competitive. But this is Arcade, mixed with people that want to win for lootboxes, that just want to play the Arcade gamemodes, that want to mess around with heroes they never played or just play whatever.
For some it works out, because it doesn’t matter to them. But for those that it does matter to, it’s incredibly unfair.
Neither of those Heroes necessarily insta-kill. Hog may with his hooks, but even then, forcing people to choose between 3-5 Heroes in order to successfully play in a gamemode doesn’t sound right to me.

And there also doomfist, who one shoot most people.
Because this game mode was not supposed to be part of this game, but players demand it, so i use it as lootbox farm.
Just like competitive for me is just gold weapon farm.
Honestly, I do wish they made it games played. Maybe 7 per box. So, 21 matches and you’re get all 3 boxes. Or 18 (6x3) or whatever divided by 3 number they think is fair.
This only wins for boxes can be a nightmare. It shouldn’t take me 50 matches in MH for 9 wins.
And no, that’s not a joke. Between people trolling, throwing, lack of team work, lack of communication (via Wheel or voice chat), bad hero “picks”, going up against 3-6 stacks (i Queue Solo, most of the time), etc, it was a nightmare. All of that, mixed with a lot of OT (basically, being with a team “good” enough to stall, but not secure the win) and long search times, it took me 9 hrs (real world time) to get my 9 Wins… After about 50 games. Ridiculous.
Thankfully, that disaster only happened once (so far), but I never want to go through that again.
