Welp I climbed 4 ranks with a 58% winrate, 3.5kd and almost 200 games and got hit with my first ban for playing doomfist. Real good report system you got here blizz.
I could throw as a widow or sojourn all day and no one cares, but roll matches as doom and get reported even when winning.
After 6yrs of OW this is not the overwatch I loved so much. Its nothing but corporate greed now. To all those still goin strong, remember stay positive and dnt be toxic to people, just have fun.
No doubt it was the usual: “not how others behave”
which makes a lot of sense considering the pride they have all over the office talking about diversity and inclusion. where being different and “not how others behave” is literally welcomed and encouraged.
Zero improvement on the (false) report system in this many years → adaptation is to rollout as many burners as you can. Hedge your chances of being flicked offline, be more survivable, and help amplify the problem so maybe they will do something about it.
Not necessarily. I’ve been banned for sabotage (torb one time, beta test another). The canned response: ‘not how others behave’ → i.e. enough trolls decided you’re not like them, playing they way they want you to.
It’s really just a few matches and a few hostile flags. Again, i was chopped out of the beta i paid for because people didn’t like me trying things out in the QP there (literally the only mode available in the early beta).
There is no evidence of this. People get chopped mid-match because several reports (usually from stacks) go through. We saw this happen to a streamer just the other day. Someone incicted false reports in chat, everyone filed, that person was chopped.
We need to stop with these conclusions. For the reports system to improve, there needs to be actual technical discussion about how it should work. Stop the gaslighting, offer some benefit of the doubt, and start working with “he could have been” - see the possibilities, don’t jump to conclusions. Right now it is entirely possible for people to be false banned.
When I got my sabotage suspension (Literally countered a Doom and Tracer super hard as Cass in OW1.) It was literally just summed up with “You are throwing and that’s it.” It did not say “Not how other’s behave.” anywhere on it, unless they changed it, or I just plain don’t remember.
Welcome to OW, I literally said this “Hey Winston, I can’t heal you through Reaper, JunkerQueen, AND Junkrat. Be a little more passive man.”
Instantly “A brain dead support telling a tank that requires skill how to play? Lol kill yourself.” and left the voice chat. I reported it, and two days later I was warned for “Abusing reporting system”. Nice right?
Because they piled up to the threshold for an automatic penalty. It takes two weeks for them to fall off your account. It’s why people who OTP have multiple accounts and rotate between them every couple weeks.
Too many players and reports for manual reviews, this is the best we’re going to get sadly.
Sorry that I don’t believe people are banned falsely anymore, when their post histories and general over all tone of their posts are ragey and toxic.
It is, but at the same time, people always use it as the excuse of why they were banned, and not the myriad of other reasons they could’ve been.
says abusive chat yet i dont use chat i have voice and text both turned off because i dont wanna deal with people being toixc to me over a video game bro its not worth the stress ya know. Same reason i gave up rust i dont wanna be told to die over a game
Again, how do you know these details? Thresholds? One valid report per match? Rotating to cool off the report “heat” ?
Judging a book by it’s cover is just wrong. That guy walked into a gas station with a hoodie? Must be a thief because that’s what my experience has jaded me with. Wrong takes. If it isn’t life-threatening or significantly damaging, you are “morally required” to give someone the benefit of the doubt.
Most of your conclusions about the report system come with no rational basis. I’d really like to see a source for those details.
It’s… Outright been stated and is well known? The threshold is somewhere around 100 reports, you can be reported anywhere from 1 to 11 times in a match, for literally ANYTHING, and it takes around two weeks for them to drop off from the day they were reported on. OTPs discovered this a while back to get around the false report bans for sabotage because they play off meta, it’s happening again now, but I highly doubt it’s to the extent the Doom mains are claiming.
Literally looked through his post history and it’s full of toxicity. You literally just did what you said not to do “Judge a book by it’s cover.” It’s what you just did to me, because I don’t agree with you.
You also talked about gas lighting earlier and this is beyond one, this one is already on fire and I’m not going to touch it so you can try and spin things.
Lol no, I’m not. I judge by actions, not words. Which is why I went to his post history, and made the decision.
“You gave me information I did not like and it contradicts what I said, so I don’t believe you.”
I turn off all chat and have climbed the ladder in ow1 as a doom main. Being toxic helps no one.
The report said gameplay sabotage lol. Also more then one report goes through as this has been tested. One streamer tested it on an unplayed account, he had his viewers report it and it was banned with 0hrs played
they should just revert him back to DPS… hate having him as the only tank (maybe works in a few comps but most of the time they’re just feeding their brains out)
If you’re getting complaints with your team asking you to switch, I’d just switch. Getting a suspension for gameplay sabotage is too easy (esp. with most of the suspension system being automated.)
You like your main, I like mine, but everyone likes keeping their account more than continuing to play something which ain’t working in a match.
Yes, go 100% against what the devs and what people personally have found out over the years of dealing with false reports and learned how to get around them.
It’s literally two week window, you bounce between accounts, so they can drop off.
Stevo talked about it, Zbra, and Quakedon touched about it, it’s WIDELY known how the system works, and how to get around false sabotage reports.
I was former t500 doomfist, me going 50-2 in a plat match isnt “not working” thats only a low elo mentality. Not mention I would be hard throwing as any other tank.
On top of that one tricking and playing any specific hero is not against terms of use. The devs have said this numerous times
I dont use chat though so I wouldnt know what my team is saying until after, “if” i turn it on
“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover” is an adage.
It has nothing to do with your character but your logic. Give people the benefit of the doubt before assuming their at fault for a system that we know gets people false banned.
You said:
as well as:
So you’ve closed your mind. And yet you support the idea that people can be false reported:
I’d also like a source on these technical details, the community could use a refresh of the inner workings of the reports system:
You didn’t give any verifiable information. And you’re still judging books by their cover.
If you’re winning matches for them then they shouldn’t be reporting you And that’s really high, grats
But when it comes to matches which are going south (so to speak) even the devs expect players to switch to try help their team win. One trick when you’re winning matched is absolutely fine, but at least consider switching off when you know you’re causing a big L.
Ultimately though the suspension system is too easy abuse and there’s a fair amount of automation inside it. I wouldn’t risk one tricking because of it.
And there’s the deflection… Sigh… Never change OW forums.
Another gas light, quit trying to direct the narrative, it won’t work and will only kill your own argument.
So you want me to give you the source, when all you have to do is search for it? So you’d rather me do your job for you, so you can then deny it flat out again?
And there’s the loop around to what you feel is the original point, but does not make sense as I already sat you down on being hypocritical about that statement.
