They lost connection to the players, the artists - i have the feeling like noone on Team 4 actually has fun working on this game anymore. And it shows.
I sometimes wonder why I still have fun playing the game anymore. Or if I do. Am I just subconsciously tricking myself into believing it is fun?

And to some degree I do agree, but keep in mind that the firings were due to the merger, and the artists were also those who worked on the PVE side of the game, which the general consensus is that it would never finish and just drain resources from the main game.
It makes sense. They licensed out future esports. It will be up to the licensees to provide commentators and analysts for their broadcasts.
Hopefully Soe and some of the other on and off air talent will be picked up by the new people running the OW esports.
