I just bought myself a new mouse for Christmas.
SO, been playing with sensitivity and grip styles.
My new style is going the opposite direction of “the pro setup”.
However, it is like 10x more comfortable… I just don’t like arm aiming…
Old:
- Mouse: Logitech G403
- Claw Grip
- 800 DPI
- 6.6 in-game sense / 36 scoped
- Arm aim with small wrist corrections
New:
- Mouse: Corsair Glaive
- FingerTip Grip
- 800 DPI
- 9 in-game sense / 36 scoped
- Wrist Aim only (wrist flicks for 180s)
Main hero is Ana. I do not change settings for specific heroes as it confuses me.
My accuracy and consistency is sky-rocketing.
Hell, I’m even 3-tapping pharah’s out of the sky!
Might post a vod and get some opinions.
Thoughts? Particularly from the higher-elo community.
Anybody else play with a higher eDPI and feels less consistent using arm aim?
P.S. I’m silver trash at the moment…
If you main Ana, faster sens could help you for those flick sleep darts. Since Ana dont need very presice aim like mcree and widow. For me, I did the opposite, my sense went down from 800dpi 8 in game to 6(5.5 for mcree) scope is 34. I landed way more headshots on widow, my scoped crits went up from 17% to 30% while scoped accurcy still around 52%, larger mouse pad helps for arm aiming, also my aim got a bit better after I boost my chair height, since I can bend my arm 90 degree to my body.
I think most players use a mixed aim style. You use arm for long movement and wrist for smaller flicks. Its up to you.
I think it just helps give me more situational awareness.
Overwatch is a game where enemy positioning is dynamic and volatile.
It’s not like CSGO where you just sort of sit and jebait around corners.
For example, it helps immensely landing 180 sleep darts on dashing genjis and blinking tracers (I do sacrifice some tracking consistency for it though). Also, it helps immensely for faster re-positioning. Doing a 180 with the flick of my wrist to run away gives me that extra little distance I need to slip behind a corner and potentially land the sleep dart when an enemy tries to chase me around it.
I also play tanks now too. For Rein, faster shield positioning. For Winston, easier jump angles with less mouse movement. For Zarya, faster 180 bubbles on teammates who are getting dove in the backline (like an ana
)
3800 player here. I went from 600 dpi x 6.2 sens to 1200 dpi 9.0 sens and arm aiming to wrist/fingertip aiming. It took a bit of getting used to, but after about a week my aim was way better than it was. I had only been using low sens because everyone said it was what I was supposed to do. I didn’t go up or down in rank, but it did make playing a lot easier.
It helps that I’m primarily a tank main, but I stopped needing to think about aim when playing Zarya/D.Va.
Do whatever works for you.
In your case, fast sens is better, since non of the hero you listed need to land critical hits. You can always use different sens for different hero, if wont really hurt your mussle memory, I uses higher sens for tracer, genji, zarya, lower sens for soldier, hanzo and mcree, widow, and I have no problem with it.
IMHO, the best grip is what you’re comfortable with.
