Fine, you want to Nerf Doomfist? Let's Nerf Doomfist

Make him louder. A lot of the main complaints people have about Doomfist is that he can jump in with his combo, get a kill, and get out with Rocket Punch and no reppercussions. Whether or not that is true (it’s not unless your team is just bad), it is a fact that Doomfist’s Seismic Slam is generally quieter than the rest of his kit, as is Uppercut. What if Doomfist made more sound with these two abilities? It doesn’t destroy Doomfist’s playstyle, but it does give the enemy team more time to react to Doomfist’s combo. It allows more time for the counterplay that already exists in the game to take effect, because literally everyone will know where Doomfist is coming from as he starts moving.

Doomfist player here. Honestly would not mind if they tried to make him louder. Given how destructive he is, he does make surprisingly little noise.

For the impact Doomfist has he is extremely quiet compared to a lot of less impactful dps. Unfortunately I don’t think simply making him louder will do anything when he can CC lock you into his combos.

People are frustrated because he has very little counterplay due to all his mobility, damage, CC and shields that he has.

Personally I think that he needs an overall CC reduction in his kit to stop the annoying spammy CC locking combos he has constantly killing you with no way of stopping him.

If they reworked Mercy just because of an ultimate being disheartening then I’m sure they can nerf Doomfist if a huge portion (pretty much everyone except Doomfist players) finds everything about him unfun and unfair.

yae the recent stylosa video with oneamongstmany seems to agree with this. increasing his sound cue would definitely help a lot, and despite my hatred for doomfist i really dont want to see a direct numbers nerf to anything besides his shields
i think that beyond reworking him tweaking his shield generation and sound is the only way to really make him work

Add in new voicelines for people who are standing in his ult radius as he’s about to land just to make me feel better.

Ana: “Well, I guess i’ll just die for real.”
Zenyatta: sigh
Reinhardt: “COME AT ME.”

Look man, this has been discussed a thousand times over already. DOOMFIST HAS COUNTERPLAY

The vast majority of heroes have a way of dealing with Doomfist’s combo, whether it be escaping it, tanking it, or interupting it. All of Doomfist’s counterplay more often than not ends with a dead Doomfist. However, a lot of that counterplay is slow comapred to the combo, but without the combo Doomfist is basically useless. That being said, if the counterplay could happen a little earlier, Doomfist is screwed, and the best way to make people use counterplay sooner is to make them more aware of Doomfist’s position, a la sound

Every hero with cc, every hero with some health, and every hero with an escape.

Both Ana and Zen are excellent examples about why positioning is just as important as Aim in overwatch.

Maybe not that extreme, but I do understand what people mean when they say “Doomfist appears out of nowhere.” This would solve that issue.

Honestly if it was that loud it’d probably be a buff because you’d never know if he was right next to you or the other end of the map but you know he’s doing something

Tell me who else (that isn’t a Doomfist player) thinks that?

The only players i usually see 9/10 who say he has counterplay are Doomfist players.

Doomfist since his introduction has been considered frustrating and had little counterplay. The reason no one was bothered by him was because his bugs tied him down and they fixed his bus sized hit boxes. They fixed those bugs and surprise he rose to dominance.

Plus Doomfist abilities are shooter favoured and usually go through even if stunned case point mccree stunning a doomfist just as he slams will get stunned and take damage yet they stunned Doomfist first.

“Questionable judgment” - Mercy

I’ll believe you when you’re career profile isn’t private.

Doesn’t matter.
Rein, orisa, Winston, brig all counter his ult.
All tanks counter him normally.
Most dps, except soldier, counter him with stuns and or escapes.
Ana, zenyatta, lucio, moira and brig are great against him.

Lol, explain why he is better at tank busting than tank busters?

He’s just like tracer before Brigitte. Huge impact with no real threat to him. He is meant to be flanker not a I can pretty much eliminate most heroes including tanks with a simple combo.

Almost like the people who die while playing DOomfist are the people who play Doomfist the most. They’re clearly going to know what works against Doomfist because they die to it, and so they’re the best teachers about what to do and what not to do. For example, if you’re playing Ana you’re Doomfist’s bread and butter; don’t use sleepdart on extraneous targets, save it for Doomfist

For the record, I am a Lucio main, with more time on Lucio than Doomfist. Doomfist is my second most played, but my third most played is Sombra, my Fourth Orisa, my fifth Symmetra. So out of my top 5 heroes, about 21% of my time is played on Doomfist, and 20% is on Sombra, and 32% of my playtime is on Lucio. I play Doomfist, but I do not main him. On top of that, 12% of my playtime is on Sym, who is hard countered by Doomfist. So when I say Doomfist has counterplay, and have given examples dozens of times in other posts about his counterplay, and actively play heroes he counters (in Lucio and Sym), I don’t say this as a Doomfist main who doesn’t want his main nerfed. I say this as an Overwatch player who understands how easy it is to feed as Doomfist, if you’re paying attention.

The only tank he can consistently “bust” is Wrecking Ball, due to his hitbox and dependence on momentum. Every other tank either directly counters him (Orisa, Hog, Zarya) or has counterplay to him (Winston, D.Va, Rein*).

A case can be made for Doomfist countering Rein due to displacement, but Doomfist isn’t going to be able to kill Rein in a reasonable timeframe.
