Finding your main

I am struggling finding a main champion and I feel like I need some tips. Before I played the most Hanzo which I am confident with, I have fun with him and I feel like I am efficient with him but I still got doubts. The second one is Widowmaker. I like playing her but I feel like she is not really good in most of the maps and I don’t feel efficient. And third, I played Mercy. I like playing her, I have fun and I feel efficient too, but, what I like the most in the game is to destroy enemies and doing lots of damage.

Any tips? I will take in consider every suggestion. Winky Face! :wink:

Nobody else can make this decision for you, that’s why you play the game? I have changed mains a few different times based on who I enjoy playing more…

I mean certain characters are OP right now so if you want to have an easier time then pick one of them and focus on getting good… Hanzo, Dva, Widow come to mind.

play mccree, you don’t need anything else.

Lucio or Zenyatta maybe?

You can still heal like Mercy but you can get kills too

I suggest picking a throw hero and then throwing so often that you get good at them

Just try every hero until you find one you enjoy.

Have a main for each category.
For me, Main tank is D.va, Main support is Moira (who is also my main main) Main Defense is Symmetra and Main Offense is Pharah or Sombra.
I didn’t really have a main main till they released Moira. It was love at first sight and I had a blast.
So maybe your main hero isn’t here yet.

play dva
she has low skill floor but extremely high skill ceiling
fun and you can one trick her

you also dont have to fight others for picking her cuz people hate playing tanks

Yeah I played every hero actually and the most I really don’t like tanks. Only D.Va. So I keep out from that category.

Try playing lots of mystery heroes in the arcade.

you simply play whatever is the most appealing for you

do you like to dps, tank or support? if you like to tank for example, do you prefer main tank or off tank? etc until you find a role you like then you just play different heroes in those roles until you find your main

Do you want a projectile based hero? Hitscan? High Mobility? Meta hero? it honestly depends on what you want from a hero.

When I first played Overwatch, I went to the practice facility and tried out every single hero to get a feel for them. That quickly whittled away about 2/3 of the heroes whom I didn’t feel like playing. Further narrowing came from actual gameplay plus the state of the heroes themselves.

Try out Ashe it seems like you enjoy snipers and she’s meta right now.

Just focus on the hero you have the most fun with, your skill with them will improve the more you play them.

It requires a little more skill set, but Ana seems like a mashup of all of those. Mercy heals, Hanzo’s projectile is like ana’s unscoped and widows angles are all abilities that translate well. The big downside you would run into that might be a deal breaker for you is having less mobility and getting used to being dependent on cool down management.

I made a list of all the heroes, then went one by one comparing which I’d rather play. (Start with one name, add them above or below others as you go. Easy peasy) I still mess around with it and adjust where heroes fall on the list from time to time.

Using that method I came up with a top ten that I use as my general hero pool.

Edit: I keep track of this list using Trello, you can make a board and drag and drop names where you want them.
