Finally Replays are here!

So excited for the replays and what it also means - match history!

I can’t believe it took them so long, but it is better late than never right?

I feel like in a competitive game like this it is paramount to have this feature so you can review your actions and see what you could have done better.

I think it is also great that i can now post cool plays on YouTube since im not worried about FPS drops when im watching the replay and can record those captures no problem

Thank you Blizzard!

Love to see more posts talk about the replay feature. It’s a blessing to have, especially for console players.

Unfortunately, most of the talk on the forums has been nothing but the D.Va/Torb nerfs.

yea good for console players. pointless for PC players since we had in game recording already for most computers already. (nvidia) or people are too lazy to use OBS or something and hit record.

bcuz if its anything like the highlight stuff, it’s gonna be lower quality and not really good enough quality for youtube and such. cuz for the highlights, when ever i save it looks bad and framerate issues even tho i set it to 1080p 60fps for the saved highlight.

Well you can’t watch your from your enemy perspective when they wreck you with your OBS, can you?

why would you want too?? unless u want to know if a guy is cheating which 1 simple killcam will figure that out. shouldnt people use it to review themself. which your suppose to be doing in game anyway. if u want to see someone better than you, there is twitch/OWL. just because a guy rekt you in 1 game, u dont need a replay system to figure out he shot you. the only use i can find with this is team reviews which only like .1% will use.

plus it will record your killcams so you can see how the enemy kills you all the time.

I would want to see why and how we lost team fights. So i think it is great.
Also not everyone is willing to run a capture software for every game, since it hurts FPS, so again it will definitely help to record nice plays using a replay instead

First of all consoles have an easier time recording ingame contend, since the consoles are born with ability to record. So it isn’t specifically easier for pc users.

Second the replay client shows so much more information then just the player cam. If you wanna know things or improve your gameplay replays will be a great asset.

Thirdly it is a super good for contend creaters. The amount stuff they can do now just jumped exponetially. This feature is in all these regards a great addition.

Replays have been a gaming feature for a long time and over the years it has been a good way to improve your gameplay. OW is both a FPS and a MOBA. This means that positioning, ult economy and when to engage the enemy is something you want to studie, when you are trying to improve. Ofcourse you can win just by being better at clicking heads, but the depth of the game is best explored in something like replay system, where it is possiable to control time and space.

Ahh can you explain exactly what this is and what is means for console players? Sorry, I am just new to this. I thought it was for toxicity lol

Posts are being made. I made one myself (Replay system feedback - #2 by ĤolyƆow-1559) and have seen another one besides these. They don’t get much tracktion though. =P

Wow, finaly they release a basic feature after 3 Years…

Thank you! :sob: Much appreciated!

Sure, it’s great that there’s replays, but what good is it going to do when the core game itself is still in dire need of attention? Toxicity in matches, near all ‘damage’ teams in Quick Play with often no care for playing as a team, competitive play feeling regularly like stomp or be stomped, heroes like Bastion still never really seeing light of day, some reworks potentially left in an odd place, and this recent PTR’s balancing is somewhat questionable. That’s just to name a few issues still in the core game. All I can say is that I hope this wasn’t the social feature planned from last year that was significantly delayed.

Oh man … they didn’t even allow to record the actual Replays in a single file to save later:

“Replays will be available for the duration of a patch; as with Highlights, your Replays will be reset when a new patch launches”

Dude, for video editing and self coaching that needs to happen.

I agree that it is an issue. Jeff talks about it in the interview Stylosa does with him (Overwatch Jeff Interview - NEW Replay System! DVa and Torb NERFS! + NEW Events TEASED?! - YouTube) and from I have seen in other games it is hard to implement. I like this replay system alot, but that would be my greatest wish for it aswell.

The problem is however not easy to solve, since it relies on have the patch the game played on doing the replaying, so they need to create a tool that can view older patched replayes and that takes some codeing effort on another scale.

Having the system as it is now is super, but now that it is here, they can work on that issue seperatly. I’d rather have this version of replays and later down the line get full replay ability and sharing tools, then wait for a fully implemented system. =)

No I know where the problem lies, same with the World Cup Viewer back in the day.
The thing is, “this” thing we have now on PTR should have been available 2 years ago and by now, the system should be fully functional long time ago.

They are waaaaaay way way behind on schedule.

PS: Not even talking about Scoreboards though.
