It’s fair to think about. We live in an era of gray lines when it comes to possible online continuous updates. Should game developers now have to be specific about the period or amount of content that the game will receive if at all? What if they make a change of plans to make another game or version like OW2? The developers here argue it’s the same continuous game but what of others?
Personally, before I purchase a game, if I’m uncertain about updates or it’s longevity, I least consider what the current content is up to that point and if I find it of value in that moment; and not really expect much more afterward. There are also times where it can be disappointing if the content gets changed where the experience isn’t what it used to be or if things are taken away. Though, I try not to be too biased and think that my first experience was better when things may have improved.
