I can’t believe that they stop patching a live game. Smash Ultimate was a service game for years and now they just stop…? I paid money for that game, I deserve that this game will be maintained in the future. Its just incredible that the community is not completly going mad over this. They probably already work on the new Smash game instead of maintaining the current one. This is so unacceptable. They only stop the maintainance because they want to make money with the sequel that comes when…? Exactly nobody knows. So I would say we demand that they continue to maintain Smash Ultimate at least until the new Smash is out and they better release the new Smash for free, otherwise I’M OUT.

Smash Ultimate didn’t give you free heroes or maps as the new additions were all dlc plus, when you bought the game they never said you would get constant new heroes and updates like in a normal live-service game.

To sum it all up, this argument makes no sense since you’re comparing two games that were designed differently. Smash wasn’t designed to be a live-service game. If it was, we would have gotten the new fighters and/or maps for free or buy using the in-game credits. OW on the other hand was designed and sold as a live-service game that would get constant new updates for years and now we barely get balance patches.
Note: If this was a troll post, well done. You fooled me. I just thought you were making a stupid argument to prove that we are entitled to getting new content.

Guess I misunderstood what was said. I didn’t realize they had announced a final balance patch update. They did say they’ll release more to fix bugs though so it’s not like the game will end up as a buggy mess. What OW tournaments? The only one we’ve gotten is the one that the content creators have created. Smash Ultimate always has the tournament mode available. OW does not.
I’m not in the loop, did Blizzard curb stomp Overwatch leauge? Does that not count as Tournament?
I was more referring to a tournament mode that is built into the game like what smash has. Blizz didn’t get rid of OWL.

Got base game, got internet access, got a multitude of balance patches, and got new maps, songs, and characters.
A lot more than Brawl offered.
tbh i think smash got just destroyed when miss bayo was introduced in 4, even if she got a reworkish in ultimate
meta knight was broken in brawl, did not impact smash 4. whats you point?

that bayonetta even after her nerfs in smash 4 almost destroyed the game and community so some might not wanna play smash anymore and don’t recommend it to others
The game has entered it’s finalized state and will no longer be updated. Does this mean everyone will stop playing it altogether? Overwatch goons should keep an eye on that so they can shout dead game at a game that’s not dead because people still play it

How is smash ultimate a live service game?
It’s not. Live service games are games that are ALWAYS online, have dedicated servers, get a constant stream of new stuff like skins or whatever, usually have microtransactions and nowadays usually have battle passes or whatever
