Figured out map bans in qp

Just leave during character select no punishment when with the red screen. Not until you are locked out of selecting skin does it count. So basically if I’m not backfill I’m leaving the bad modes. Maybe they can gather that data and do something about it lol. I’d rather wait an extra minute that be stuck with garbage map for a full game.

I really hope they change their minds and have the map voting for qp too. If it only takes like 15s to vote or something, I don’t think that’s a big deal. Can easily take 15s off of the waiting time for the match to start instead if needed.

I’m not someone who dodges certain maps and modes, but I would prefer to play the better maps more often than things so crappy like clash that it’s removed from comp.

Blizzard’s whole approach to “Put up with it or leave” thing is what is driving players away.

  • bad maps.
  • bad match-ups
  • bad players

Skill is relative. The higher one climbs, the worse everyone else below looks.

Once upon a time that is how it worked.

Imo they should just use bans to gather data on which maps are the least popular and delete them from the game, and ffs stop designing new maps in a similar fashion. They have this idea that we like big open maps with an objective in the middle of the wide open space, probably thinking that people enjoy 360 flanking at all times and spreading out, and I don’t think that they are correct.

Wow, well done, figured out how it has always been!

A more general rule is:

  • If you try to leave and there is not a 5s timer on the Yes button, then you are safe to go without penalty.

That allows you to know which modes are ok to leave. For example when they moved one of the 6v6 tests into arcade but you still got penalised for leaving - just use the 5s rule and you are safe.

You might also want to avoid a teammate from your abandoned game so that you don’t backfill into it, OP.

They could even do Map Queues.

As you queue up, pick which maps you want to play or ban. Once they matchmake, check to see which maps everyone wants to play and randomize based on that list.

If you only have 1-3 maps selected have something specified saying you may not get your map choice because you like too few maps. Or, just force people to pick 5+ maps to queue.

Doing this during the queue saves time and stress for everybody, imo.

This works most of the time, but not always. Sometimes the player you avoid leaves and you get pulled back in. Other times a player in your role on the other team leaves and you get pulled into that team.

My routine is to hit tab and see which player is the other tank. I then hit P and avoid 2 players on my team and 2 on the other team (not the tank as I am tank). Takes about 8-9s in total. Then I leave. Never get pulled back into the same game. If time is short then avoid 1 player on the other team that is not in your role and 1 player on your own team.

Yeah because it gives you a big warning that you are not going to be able to queue. I finally just didn’t care and left anyway and noticed it didn’t.

But for real I’m just not playing the modes they force me to play anymore. If I can’t queue for specific more in a longer queue time I’ll just do it myself and quit any of their garbage game modes. They know everyone hates them but they paid someone to make them so they force you to play on them. I want nothing to do with flashpoint, clash, push, or honestly most of the control point maps. And since this is the only game in history I’ve experienced that doesn’t let you literally choose the mode I’ll just do it this way. They can use that data that they did a bad job like it or not lol.

Wow, it feels almost like you’re an alt account of me!! I do exactly the same. If I have to leave too many matches to skip maps I may end up playing runasapi but I will never play flash or clash or colloseo or numbani or havana.
